Hi, I like your extension, but whenever the youtube progress bar reaches the end of what has downloaded while the extension is active, the video resets. Would it be possible to make this feature toggleable? Thank you.

Please adopt a design that is easy to understand what it indicates.

Hi developer, I've just installed your extension on my browser.
I don't know how to use it. Is run by clicked YouTube Audio icon on extension menu in top right side? Or anything else?

Would you like to add the ability to auto-hide the toolbar icon for non-affected pages? So I guess showing the icon only for YouTube?

The correctly formatted host permissions for YouTube's domain are "*://*.youtube.com/*".

The current formatting (as of 305f5bb ) will not allow the extension to be loaded. An error is displayed when you try.

Even with the correct formatting however, the extension fails to work correctly. It simply doesn't remove the video as intended. Reverting to the wildcard permissions of a couple commits ago ( "*://*/*" ) rectifies this.

So we need to either revert the project to 7dede35 or discover a way to make it function within a more limited scope of permissions.

also some playback speeds are greyed out but I can still change to them via the keyboard shortcut

The Add-on does not work with live streams. A video is still shown. You can try it out with this stream.
Supporting also live streams would be a nice feature since listening to radio streams is an important use case.

This started happening from today 19 Feb 2020. I think youtube has changed something.

Is this permission really necessary for the extension to run? Can't it be isolated to youtube.com? It seems quite excessive in regards to privacy.

Not a big deal, but clicking on Picture-in-Picture mode when the extension is enabled and a video is playing crashes Firefox. Maybe disable the PIP button when the extension is enabled (if this is possible) ?

Hi, first of all, thank you for a nice extension!

It would be nice, when switching the extension on / off, it would just disable / enable the video without doing anything to the audio stream. Not refreshing the YT tab.

This is especially useful when deciding on listening / watching longer concerts during work, to keep listening consistency.

Example: I am interested in drum solos, but the rest is okay to listen only during work.

Scenario: I open a video link to content where I want to see the actual video. So I click the icon and reload the page. While watching the video, I want to prepare some music to listen afterwards (audio only). So I open a new tab and go to youtube.com. The button is still gray. I want each new tab to be audio only by default

Please add a configuration switch for that. Thanks

Please give users the option to set custom

• background colors
• notification text and
• notification text color.

Especially the custom bg color would help a lot to make the viewing graph more visible, or visible at all (see screenshots).

It will be very useful if you have a filtering option where the extension is only active on music.youtube and let videos play on www.youtube

Making this as an option would be great because there are a lot of Music on youtube with only one Picture in the Video making your second Monitor not that boring

is it possible to restrict the domain permission to youtube.*? I think there's no reason to access other domains. is there?

I'm listening to lofi hip hop and enjoying myself, but unfortunately I have to experience the video stream slowing my computer down.

Bug/issue: add-on does not function on YouTube livestreams; the livestream video plays as usual and is not affected by the add-on.

The manifest currently requests access to *://*/*, which is ALL websites.

Any reason not to change the manifest to just specify YouTube?

Because of this issue, AMO and Firefox list this extension as needing permission to "Access your data for all websites".

This useful extension is unfortunately not working on https://www.youtube-nocookie.com: The video is playing, not only audio.

when you are listening to a video, enter something in the search input and when you hit enter the current video's sound repeats from the beginning.

Could you please add a LICENSE file to the repo?

Add support for displaying thumbnails or a selected frame from a video to be displayed instead of displaying "Youtube Audio Extension is running." Some people such as me leave the video running on a separate screen and the thumbnail is usually what helps me identify the video or it can be used just for aesthetics.

The YouTube audio extension no longer works, on any video, on Firefox. The error also occurs on the mobile version and the web version of YouTube.

OS: Arch Linux

I have been facing this problem for quite a while. Like an year or so.
I haven't been able to reliably reproduce the problem. It happens quite frequently and randomly.

Symptoms:
The buffer suddenly becomes empty, even if the buffer was fully loaded a moment ago.
Then playback starts buffering.
Then sometimes playback continues, sometimes playback restarts from beginning.
And sometimes, instead of restarting, playback resumes with video.

If other people who are having this problem share any info they have, we could try to find what's common in all of these configurations.

The extension works properly just sometimes. For very long playbacks (>20 min), it either stops or refresh automatically the page and starts over from the beginning.
For the stop, I suspect it could be either a buffering stop or YouTube asking if someone is still listening.
For the refresh, I don't have any clue, but it reduces drastically the usability of the add-on.

Any suggestion on how I can help further?

It would be great to have an option which allows the user to enable the extension only for videos in the 'music' category.

I installed this extension for for youtube music in order to disable video playback but it affects on regular youtube site too. Can you add an option to make it only affect on specific services like music.youtube.com ?

Currently running Firefox 93.0 on a Macbook Air.
I reset Firefox several times etc but the sound wont come out.

Add option to remove the video message from the video background (Leaving it black, for example).

Reason: using Popup Video addon with Youtube Audio addon i can create a small popup window that will have just the video control buttons. However setting it's size to say 50px height, the message gets behind the player controls making them hard to see.

Steps to reproduce:

• Open a YouTube video page X -- only the audio will play as expected.
• Hit the back button in the browser -- The X audio track will reload.

Self-explanatory, this would save a click and be more convenient.

When the extension is turned on and I play a playlist in the background, after a video finishes playing and the next one loads, the next one has to be manually started and often the page freezes.

Other extensions like Enhancer for YouTube only ask for access to youtube.com but this extension can read all site's data! Why?

congrats for the project! I installed on android 7.1.1 and mozilla 68.7.0.
I expected the video is stopped but I see it continuing.
I see the extension in the right-up corner menu but when I click on it nothing happens

Steps to reproduce:

1. Set Plugin active
2. Start plaback of a Youtube Playlist
3. Switch to a new/other tab before the end of one video
4. The Next Video will load "in the Background" but it will not start to play

Check the network tab in developer console.

If you turn on the extension on a video that has a track list, the video will forever loop only the first track.

Feature suggestion: In place of the extension's text (and the blank screen), extension can get the thumbnail of the video and display it.

When I toggle do it is possible to resume from the same position where the video was located?
