byenow's Issues

Some empty folders are not deleted after the first run

Hi there. As the title says, this happened to me a couple of time, with some folders with many files inside. The structure was like this:

Parent:
|___ Folder01
|___ Many Folders/files

At the first run, byenow deletes everything but it leaves "Parent" and "Folder01" with nothing inside. Second run, it will delete the "Folder01"; third run, it will delete "Parent" too. Of course the command was launched directly on the Parent folder. I've tried with and without the "-n" flag under Windows 10. I tried to replicate with few files and folders but this issue seems to occur only with many files and folders, aprox >50000 files.

Cyrillic paths

Dear @apankrat, byenow 0.6 does not output Cyrillic paths on my on Windows 7 x64.

It looks this way

C:\>byenow Мяу
Remove [C:\

Then I press 'n', of course, and it becomes

C:\>byenow Мяу
Remove [C:\n

Access with context menu

Is there a way that you can right click on the folder you want to delete, right click, Delete with byenow, and bynow does everything in the background? Thanks in advance.

delete the content of a folder but not the folder itself

It would be really helpful if i could delete just the content of a folder but not the folder itself.

An example would be the recycle bin folder. I would like to clean the folder but i would also like to preserve the folder itself.

Releases on Github

If you also had the downloads as Github releases, it would be easier to auto-update this in some way or another.

Deletion confirmation under Windows doesn't work

Hi there. As the title says, when you try to delete something with the command

byenow "foldername"

the confirmation's prompt appears: at this point if you type "yes" nothing happens. The command will processes the deletion only if you use the "--yes" tag.

Command exit codes

Hi,

great tool! Deletes a Visual Studio Code folder (755 MB, 17.774 files, 2923 folders) from a ram disk in ~0.5 seconds (using --delete-ntapi)^^

One thing I'd like to request though: Could you implement different exit codes?
Atm @echo %errorlevel% after executing byenow.exe will always report 0 even if byenow found an
error during delete.

So one way would be:
Return 0 if no errors were found
and 1... x for the number of errors found

This would be really helpful...

Multiple paths as arguments

Hello (again),

may I add another feature request?

Syntax: byenow.exe [options] <folder> [<folder a> ... <folder z>]

Alternatively an option to use a file (that contains all folders) instead of the using multiple <folder(s)> as arguments would be a great enhancement...

I'm using byenow with the file manager of my choice and a script that needs to call the .exe multiple times (and the corresponding shell as well) which adds time to the whole process...

Thanks for considering this!

Replace default windows explorer "delete" with byenew

Byenow is awesome!

Now, How do I replace default windows explorer 'delete' using byenow. This means:

  • Right click, delete, and then confirms it.
  • Pressing delete on keyboard, and then confirms it.

would execute byenow instead of the slow windows delete.

Way to delete a specific file

Dear @apankrat, why the scope is limited to folders only, why no ability to delete a file?

$ byenow ghostwriter_win64.zip
Error: specified path points at a file - [X:\ghostwriter_win64.zip]
