archcraft's Issues

Help changing path of a file.

Hey, you have this file /usr/lib/archlabs/common/al-include.cfg, Is there a way to move this file to my ~/.local/lib/common/al-include.cfg. I was trying your picom pipemenu, but it needs this file, I tried modifying the file ob-compositor and changed this line

if ! . "/usr/lib/archlabs/common/al-include.cfg" 2>/dev/null; then
     echo $"Error: Failed to source /usr/lib/archlabs/common/al-include.cfg" >&2 ; exit 1

to

if ! . "~/.local/lib/common/al-include.cfg" 2>/dev/null; then
     echo $"Error: Failed to source ~/.local/lib/common/al-include.cfg" >&2 ; exit 1

but running the script gives error

Error: Failed to source ~/.local/lib/common/al-include.cfg

What else do I need to change?

Separate repo for future package updates

Can you implement a separate repo in GitHub for future package updates so we don't have to install the system Everytime a new archcraft package update is released, for reference you can go through salient os repo.

Computer won't go to sleep

whenever I hit the sleep button or close the lid I get an error message stating that my computer can't go to sleep because no tools for locking the screen are working

I could build an nvidia version for Archcraft

If you are interested I can build Archcraft with nvidia hardware as lot of people have problems installing the distro

It makes me wondering if I build it with nvidia would it make it work ?

Option to style QT apps?

So,

I tried Openbox in a VM. I love the Manhattan theme, is it possible to let QT apps also use the Manhattan Theme?
I normally use kvantum-qt5, but there is no option for that.

Greetings!

Moving to new ISO host / Multiple hosts.

Title is fairly self explanatory.

I live in the UK and have a 350mbps download speed, yet downloads from SourceForge are always incredibly slow. (Not limited to just this ISO) Not sure if I'm doing something wrong somehow.

For a file this size, I would suggest moving to a different download host, or having multiple server locations / regions and or torrent option.

I don't understand what has broken

I have this issue

Can't find documentation on Style Scripts

Firstly I'd like to say, this project looks great! I use manjaro, but am considering making the switch to this.

Quick question though, in the README I saw something about "Style Scripts" to easily swap styles, but I couldn't find a reference to that on https://archcraft-os.github.io/ or in the repo.

How would I go about using those? what do they modify and where are they stored?

Is there a TODO list

I want to contribute to archcraft but I don't really want to go in a wrong direction so I was wondering if there was a TODO list

Installation Medium freezed

Hello, I tried archcraft on a live USB stick but my computer got freezed at every boots.

Here what I only see
image

I can access to the TTY and system seems to be normal but I cannot do anything...

If someone have an idea or something...
Thank you !

Bluetooth not finding devices

I've installed some Bluetooth packages, such as:

bluez
bluez-utils
bluez-utils-compat
blueberry
gnome-bluetooth
gnome-control-center

When I open blueberry manager, it starts to look for devices but, it never display the available devices.
Do you have any idea about it?
Thank you so much!

Stuck on logo

When booting from a usb I am stuck on a screen with the archcraft logo and a progress bar moving back and forth.

Update question

Congrats for this amazing work.

Is there any way to update the new releases in any sort of pacman package?

Login failure

I followed the guide that is on the site for installing to my machine. Upon booting into the drive I was greeted with the login screen and my username. However, I typed in my password and many differing versions and possible mistypes but every time I attempt to login it goes through as if it is going to login and then kicks me back to the login screen with no meaningful errors or output. I have also attempted to logging into root and receive the same issue. Please advise.

Thank you,

Shutdown, Lockout etc is not working

I have a hp pavilion core i5 laptop with nvidia card. When I click on shutdown, Restart, Lockout etc using menu, the system just freeze and didn't do anything. I had to forcefully shutdown by pressing the power button. I don't know what's the issue. If you need any kind of logs etc I will provide here. I am using a terminal for now to shutdown, restart, etc.

The next issue is when I lockout using shortcut, then entering the password again is not working. just froze on the lock screen.

P.S I installed Gnome and everything work fine. I guess the mention issues lie with just openbox

Installation fails to boot after upgrading via Pacman

Totally fresh install, with the exception of having added Win10 to grub; booted completely fine before updating via pacman.

sudo pacman -Syy
sudo pacman - Syu

No errors of any kind reported from the above. Upon restarting, booting into archcraft results in a black screen, and everything is totally unresponsive.

Hardcoded packages on setup.sh

First of all, congratulations for the project. I'm making my own personal custom Arch Linux iso, and your project is one of my biggest inspirations.

I have a look at the build.sh script, and it seems like the packages installation are hardcoded on that, and maybe in a future it can be a pain in the ass.

done

or maybe even better:

# packages.txt
colorpicker
betterlockscreen
ksuperkey
networkmanager-dmenu-git
...
# ...
PKGS="$(cat packages.txt)"

...

It's plausible or I'm wrong? I'm not a big fan of shell scripting, so that's a genuine question.

ISO Installer Freezes on load

The Login screen works just fine. But once i sign in with liveuser as the password. For a few seconds, I can use my mouse. But As soon as the background loads up. The whole system freezes.. I've tried waiting 10 or so minutes(just in case if the files were loading in the background) I even tried installing with the awesome and openbox versions, hoping it was just the original installer that had this bug. But unfortunately they to froze up my system before the background even loaded.
Laptop in use: Lenovo L340 Gaming

Maybe I'll try again in a month or so..

Installer doesn't mkconfig for grub

When you edit configs of installed system and edit grub/syslinux/systemd-boot, the changes are saved to the file although grub is not updated since the grub.cfg isn't regenerated using the new configuration.

grub-mkconfig has to be ran if the user edits grub/syslinux/systemd-boot or inform the user during installation that if he decides to edit the grub configuration that he has to run this command manually when he boots to initialize the grub changes he made via generating a new grub.cfg using:

grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Password

IT ASKS ME FOR A SUDO PASSWORD EVERY DAMN TIME

Theme and pipemenu download.

Hey can you provide the included themes and pipemenu scripts as well as other config files in the ISO for download.

Issue trying to encrypt home partition

I've created 3 partitions boot, root with swap-file as well as home. I've encrypted the root and home partition with LUKS automatic encryption, the installation went fine, didn't change any configurations, then when I try to decrypt my data the loading bar just keeps rolling.
Creating boot and root partition with swap file and encrypting it works fine.

General Question

Hi i want to boot up this ISO but i find that you need to wipe your entire hard-disk to install it? Is there any workaround where i can install it in selected partition? Thanks.

Unable to run Mkinitcpio

IMG_20201005_223649
Every time I try installing Archraft I get this error when I want to run mkinitcpio.
I tried the tradition archlinux ways of fixing this, but none of them worked.
I followed the install guide for UEFI (my system is UEFI) verbatim but still no luck.

Apply to current stock Arch linux.

Would it be difficult / possible to apply Archcraft theming and tooling customizations to stock install of Arch 64bit? If possible, will you consider a short how-to instrucitons on how to follow through with that?

Login screen

The login screen is too busy (for example the huge, italic "Login" isn't needed, would you agree?). Rework it to match the cleanness, and minimalism of the rest of the UI? Other than that, amazing work!

Black screen

Sometimes when i start archcraft, i just get a black screen, no errors, no nothing, sometimes using the initframs helps but some other times i just cant get in.

Usually a few reboot fixes the issue.

Showing some support

Hey Adi, not sure if you've watched the DistroTube video about Archcraft, but in my opinion:

  • DT is right about the default font and strange choice of shortcuts.
  • But he's completely wrong about the chosen tone to deliver the message. He didn't even take the time to prepare the video and read about shortcuts and stuff.
I think the distribution is amazing, and it could potentially become a big thing; it has almost everything a Linux super-user could wish for. That being said, please fix default font (type and size), and rethink your choice of default shortcuts; the current ones are weird.

Congratulations and thanks for all the work you've put into the distro, (a lot, and it shows) and keep it up.

Live USB - Infinite Boot - UEFI/Surface Book 2

When trying to boot to a Live USB, the boot animation (with the Archcraft logo), lasts forever. I only notice this issue on my laptop which is a Surface Book 2 using UEFI and do not notice this when using my Desktop which uses BIOS. Is there some way to troubleshoot why it would not be working.

I tried having a look around for help but didn't see anything, so sorry if it's a silly question.

Corrupted pgp signature

Every time I try to install lutris it says signature from “Filipe lafns (FFY00) [email protected] is unknown trust then it says it’s corrupted with (pgp signature)
Plus every time I try to refresh my keys it says a specified local key could not be updated from key server

Can you use bigger bitmap fonts for polybar or include a ttf icon font to better support HiDPI?

4k screens are becoming more and more popular and the polybar config shipped with archcraft are catered more for lower dpi screens. The waffle icon pack in the forest style polybar config for example is only around 10pt which makes it basically unreadable on a 4k display. I've tried to change it myself but keep getting errors with unmatched characters. Can you include bigger bitmap fonts or rather truetype fonts where the size of the icons and text can be scaled?

Can't build the iso

I managed to run perfectly setup.sh but then comes the time of build.sh
It fails and tell me : failed to install packages to new root

Is there a way to fix this did I broke anything ?

Bad Pacman Repos & Yay Build Fails

I am running the current latest build of Archcraft Linux and I installed it previously as well. I have having a huge issue with the Repos. Many times pacman can't find simple things like SnapD or programs that are listed in the official repos.

Even when I try installing them through Yay, many dependencies are not found and it fails to build. I can't find a reason for this and running sudo pacman -Sy a bunch did not solve anything. I want to be able to have this fixed and use Archcraft normally. Otherwise I would conclude Archcraft as a distro with design but no function.

Light theme on bspwm

There are light themes on openbox but not on bspwm.

Keep up the good work, it's amazing !! Thank you.

Hanging after logging into liveuser during UEFI

I am trying to install Archcraft on my Lenovo Legion. Booting from the drive works and I get to the login screen, however after logging into live user it gets stuck on a blank desktop. I can move the mouse and the screen dims after some tome, however niether the windows key, nor alt+f1work.

Core i7-9750H
GTX 1660 Ti

Currently dual booting windows and Elementry OS if that matters

nvim/vim config

Where can I download (from the internet/github) the nvim/vim config file used in archcraft please?

Doing a full system update breaks my installation

Hello, this is my first time trying out this ISO and sadly I've ran into a problem (on the 2607 version ISO) :

  • if I try to do pacman -Syu or a yay -Syu command, I got a bunch of errors (screenshot attached).

I've tried to accept everything but then my Arch can't boot properly (black screen). Do you have any idea where it could come from ?

Screenshot_2020-08-02-08-21-10_1920x1080

Mouse / touchpad configuration

When using xfce4-mouse-settings the settings are not saved and doesn't have any effect of the mouse configuration. I tried editing the conf file manually in ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-prechannel-xml/pointers.xml but it doesn't have any effect either.
It is the same for all the other settings from xfce4, I had to install arandr to manage my screen settings.

Live USB desktop freeze.

HI,
I have booted my live USB and logged into the desktop but after maybe 1 minute the desktop freezes and I have to hard reboot. Any ideas on this before I try an install?
