Movie-Recommender

A Chrome extension that takes recommends movies to watch based on a movie entered. Uses TMDB for suggestions, and presents them in an easy to interact with format for users. Search functionality is built open enough to be easily edited and built on top of. API access for TMDB is provided, and allows for a robust suite of movie data for bespoke recommendation features.

Movie Recommender aims to provide a convenient way for movie watchers of all kinds to find the next movie they want to watch, using other movies they like as a base.

Installation

Clone/download the repository.
Install node_packes $ npm install
In Chrome, enable Developer Mode by navigating to Tools>Extensions and clicking the checkbox in the top-right corner.
Select Load unpacked, and navigate to the repository

Integrate links to external streaming services in search results

Connect current suggestions to external streaming/purchase links if available for the film

Improving the interface with Vue/Beaufy

Flesh out the UI experience with available NodeJS tools like Vue and Beufy

Better browser integration

Create further integration with the browser experience, like being able to select movie names in a webpage, and search that way.

Create more robust recommendation algorithms/features

Creating bespoke recommendation algorithms for more accurate recommendations. Specifically, using either an internal account system, or pulling from a user's external account (on IMDB, LetterBoxd, etc.) to better refine recommendations to a user's tastes.
