[ ] A statement of need: Do the authors clearly state the need for this module and who the target audience is?

Although there is a Statement of Need section in the article, the section does not clarify the need for this material to the intended audiences.

It would help to give some examples to support the following statement:

The class was designed to fill a gap distinct from introductory programming and numerical methods courses and was
intended to be very practical.

Does the paper tell the "story" of how the authors came to develop it or what their expertise is?

The story could be more straightforward.

• Installation instructions: Is there a clearly stated list of dependencies?

The course is using the overleaf online editor for the latex material and that is a terrific idea to introduce someone to latex.

The course is using MATLAB and Python. However, there are no instructions for installing MATLAB and Python.

It's great the course provides instruction videos that students and others can follow along, but it would be ideal to provide a Jupyter notebook for the python materials and a MATLAB live script.
