plasma-power-monitor's Issues

Widget floods the journalctl every <poll interval> with 'plasmashell[2882]: XMLHttpRequest: Using GET on a local file is dangerous and will be disabled by default in a future Qt version.Set QML_XHR_ALLOW_FILE_READ to 1 if you wish to continue using this feature.'

Relevant system info:

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8

Every time the widget polls (as specified by the polling interval), I get the above error message added to my journalctl:

This is probably not great for my NVME drive :)

I have disabled the widget for the time being, although I really REALLY like it :)

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add the widget to, I assume a recent version of, KDE
  2. Take note of the interval
  3. Run journalctl
  4. scroll to the bottom
  5. Observe the many entries

My journal goes back to Jan 17th, and then it already had those entries. So I don't know with which KDE version this started.

Of the 1428804 lines present in my journalctl output, a huge majority of them is this message.

Support for dual battery ThinkPads

Currently, on my T560, it doesn't show the wattage at all. Not sure if it's because of the dual batteries or the fact that the power consumption is under /sys/class/power_supply/BATx/power_now

Widget causes constant UI restart

The UI kept restarting, as in going black all together where everything disappears then comes back. This happens in a random interval, but it doesn't take too long to happen again. Sometimes, it just hangs on a black screen where I only see the cursor. Removed the widget and the system is normal now.

When my laptop is fully charged,0.0W appeared

When my laptop is charging, it works well
When my laptop is on battery, it works well
But when my laptop is fully charged and still connected to the power cord, 0.0W appeared
My laptop has a mechanism that stops charging when the battery is fully charged.

Add font size change support

The text is bigger than the rest of the icons in the panel and looks off. Would it be possible to add the ability to resize the font?

Plasma 6 Support

Hi,

I have been using this widget for few months now, I really like it and would love to keep using it when Plasma 6 lands later this year. Are there any plans to port this to KF6?

I was on KDE forums a bit ago and saw Nate and Alex mention guides for porting plasmoid are already available.
Here is a link the guide they mentioned.
https://develop.kde.org/docs/plasma/widget/porting_kf6/

Thank you.
Bill

Shows "NaN W"

I am using Plasma Power Monitor applet on a HP 250 G5 laptop running KDE Neon (KDE Plasma 5.27.5), and Plasma Power Applet shows "NaN W".

The directory /sys/class/power_supply/BAT1 exists. I will be happy to provide any other necessary information.

Feature request: show 'AC' when on AC

Whenever I am on AC, I see huge numbers, which apparently is a known issue mentioned in the README.md.

The power usage rises continously when the laptop is plugged in to A/C power. It is normal if you see high readings.

Could we have the string "AC" when on AC power instead?
