GNOME Shell extension. Search the web directly from Gnome Shell.

This extension inhibits entering a password in the gnome lock screen. Worse still it completes a google search (or whatever the default search engine is set to..)of the typed password attempt! This does not become apparent until after the screen is finally unlocked.
I'm running Debian testing distribution.
The extension even till this day has not been updated with the new tweener module, and it gives an error for a nonexisting this._construct
function.
in Fedora 30 desktop + gnome version 3.32.2. Installed via https://extensions.gnome.org/#.
Options does load but site reports error and extension does not display or respond to keyboard
I added a new search engine and made a small typo. It seems I can' t edit existing entries. This would be useful.
Is there a way to integrate this into the Dash? Wouldn't that be way better?
What i mean is instead of using super+space to reveal the current dialog box to use the Dash's search dialog.

See awamper/wikipedia-search-provider#12, it seems to apply to this extension as well
Currently, it seems like one can only add or delete search engines. There seems to be no way to edit a created one, which might be helpful sometimes.
Please add clear history button
Please update the extension to make it compatible with Gnome 3.20.
Hey i like your tool works great so far
I want to use duckduckgo as my default search engine
How can i change these settings
Good day
Iam running ubuntu 20, getting this error after installation.
The settings of extension [email protected] had an error:
![image](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/43822146/98513785-721aee00-228e-11eb-849e-e70e524733c0.png)
With gnome 3.8 out, the extension does not work anymore. Please update.
The keybinding Meta+Space is now used for locale switching, so maybe use Ctrl+Space as default?
There is no .md or documentation for installing it. I am running Ubuntu 15.10 with Gnome(not unity). I want this extension.
Hi
It would be good to have a -S shortcut that would go and search using the clipboard contents right away.
Some other plugins implement this but it would be nice to have this all with the same settings.
It's very easy to do Ctl + Space to open the dialog. My request is that Ctl + Space also closes the dialog. This would make opening / closing the dialog faster.
User story:
User runs Arch with gnome 3.26.2. Everything is so updated that it's almost like the desktop has a new from factory smell.
Sometimes I click ctrl + space on accident, or I regret the decision and want to close the dialog. Since I have my hands over alt and space (I just clicked it) I try that again, expecting it to close. It doesn't. Clicking with mouse (I conveniently had one hand there) anywhere on the screen outside of the dialog does nothing (while I somehow expect it to close it). I don't really reach want to reach for the ESC-key, as it's on the outer rim my keyboard, the furthest possible distance away from my mouse hand, and maximal extension for the left hand.
User wants to close the dialog with the same bind that opens it. User wants to expend as little energy as possible on moving hands around keyboard. User also wants to close dialog by clicking the mouse anywhere outside of the dialog.
From this dramatic user report it should be clear that this is something worth spending time on.
Hovering over a suggestion makes the search field inherit the hovered suggestion and messes up the search term. Requiring a click would be better.
E.g. I have w
set for searching Wine AppDB so if I go to type w and my mouse is hovered over a suggestion it inherits it so w
turns into walmart
and I end up having to delete it.
Is it possible to localize the duckduckgo helper? If called [1] it gives localized results. I guess the language has to be set in the header.

I think, it would be better if you change the open search dialog keyboard shortcut pref using keybinding like "web search from clipboard" pref.
I just tried to install the extension via extensions.gnome.org, but the extension gets removed directly after adding it (or probably never gets added).
Directly adding the latest code (d301d9c) as an extension works fine. Is the latest code already published on extensions.gnome.org?
I'm on gnome-shell 3.24.2
This plugin is Awesome. But if it is ok, please add options so that we can start installed app from it. Then it can work as an omni search.
The following error occurs, when opening the extension settings via the Tweak Tools with Gnome 3.24 on Arch:
TypeError: redeclaration of let engines_list Stack trace: Application<._getExtensionPrefsModule@resource:///org/gnome/shell/extensionPrefs/main.js:74:13 wrapper@resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/lang.js:178:22 Application<._selectExtension@resource:///org/gnome/shell/extensionPrefs/main.js:89:31 wrapper@resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/lang.js:178:22 Application<._onCommandLine@resource:///org/gnome/shell/extensionPrefs/main.js:243:17 wrapper@resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/lang.js:178:22 main@resource:///org/gnome/shell/extensionPrefs/main.js:399:5 @<main>:1:49
Also I set the shell-version in the manifest.json
to 3.24
Right now if you turn suggestions on, the results will come from either google or ddg (depends on what you are using, i didnt check that yet) while the suggested results should come from the search engine's suggestion system (if exists).
I hope you understand what im trying to say
I can install the extension from the GNOME store and the settings box appartently work, but the extension doesn't search anything..
My specs:
Desktop Environment: GNOME v3.24.2
Distro: Manjaro v17.0.2
Kernel Linux v4.9.40-1-MANJARO
Shell: bash v4.4.12
I run the OS on VMWare Workstation 12 Player
My machine is based on a i5 configuration.
Steps to reproduce:
Expected behavior:
Without this extension installed, your keystrokes will be passed on to the Password input on the Lock screen.
Actual behavior:
With this extension installed, your keystrokes are passed on to the extension, overlaying the Web Search dialog over the lock screen. The only way to clear the lock screen is to use your mouse to click and drag up from the bottom of the screen (as if you were swiping on a touchscreen) to reveal the Password input, where you can now type your password and unlock the session.
