use xterm instead of gnome-terminal or xfce4-terminal. xterm is quite simple and almost everywhere installed by default.

The only thing: I have to get behind xterm.

In any case if you're using wireless, you should definitely prefer wireless first configuration. Maybe that could explain the erratic behavior you are experiencing.

the right alt-key is used as modifier for öäü, but its not working anymore with alt+right and alt+left to move windows

Current:

Close lid, laptop goes to sleep.
Open lid, laptop wakes up, xautolock determines clock jump, screen locked

The Problem:

Xautolock sometimes doesn't invoke the locker (because it couldn't detect the sleep?!). And if it detects the sleep correctly, xautolock takes a few seconds and unveils the display's content.

Idea:

There must be a solution, where you can specify a pre-sleep job, which gets invoked after closing the lid, but before going to sleep. Invoking xautolock with this hook manually would be awesome.

I guess this can get solved with a systemd service here.
