Gap Analysis: edit in observations on OCR correction and design

There is room for valuable innovation in the design of crowdsourcing interfaces if the crowdsourcing system can provide feedback to volunteers on the quality of their first contributions. 'Golden task' or machine learning tools may help with this. Creating interfaces that encourage participants to gradually learn the palaeographic skills necessary to transcribe some manuscripts would also be an innovative outcome.

Final Report pre-flight checks

  • check that Executive Summary matches final conclusions
  • check for UK spelling throughout (apply UK English and re-run spell-check)
  • check heading formatting: page break before H1; no indents on headings
  • check footnote formatting
  • check fonts (face, size) are consistent
  • search for # to pick up any final issues
  • check report is in plural first, not third person
  • agree footnote format and make sure it's used consistently
  • edit headings for brevity and sense
  • search and replace double spaces for single space between sentences
