mythbox's Issues

Can't find recordings

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.run mythbox script on XBMC (linux - ubuntu/jaunty)
2. select "Watch Recordings": all recording show up in list
3. select any recording and get error message in a small pop up window:
"Error:CATCHCALL Exception: can't find recording
"mythtv_video_file.mpg"(the actual video file corresponding with my
selection) Function: <function onlnit at 0x4d2eca0>

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Playback of recording. Error message popup.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
XBMC: whatever version the jaunty ubuntu PPA is using right now.
OS: Linux, Ubuntu Janty-jackelope
Mythbox: Beta 3 (SVN 1062)
Please provide any additional information below.
I have a master backend server(no frontend on this) that multiple frontends
connect to. I do have the settings correct for mythtv and mysql(obviously,
or I wouldn't even be able to select a show to watch)
Under paths, I've tried using my backend recording directories, but get an
error they don't exist--assuming this is for the local machine only. I do
have a mythtv-frontend and slave backend on this machine. I don't run the
frontend while using XBMC. Also got this same error some time ago on a
windows XP machine--was hoping to be able to build a windows based myth
frontend.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I'm on Arch Linux, i installed "pacman -S mysql-python" (extra/mysql-python
1.2.3b2-1)

Linux PCname 2.6.30-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jul 31 18:10:38 UTC 2009 i686
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

I've read up on similar errors but they were using 64bit OS's, I have an
AMD64 but i'm NOT on 64bit Arch Linux.

Please provide any additional information below.

I've gotten this to work on MythBuntu but not ArchLinux, I'm a bit of a
noob but I tried my hardest to give you as much info as possible.

please note that the FAQ in the tar.gz file needs updating, the XBMC log
file in Linux was located in /home/<user>/.xbmc/temb/xbmc.log only after
turning on the feature.

Changing channels while watching a channel requires an explicit STOP first

This is not a bug really, but a feature request, you could say.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Watch LiveTV
2. Go to the Guide
3. If you now try to start a new channel, it doesn't work. You have to
explicitly STOP playback (STOP button) before playing a new channel.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I would like MythBox to automatically STOP the playback of the old channel,
and starting the new.

a thought: it would be really cool if it checked to see if there was an
idle tuner, and if so, start buffering the new channel WHILE playing the
old. And when the buffering was complete, stop the old and show the new. It
would just be cool, havn't thought of it much. However you would
temporarily lock up another tuner which is a small drawback.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

658 on Linux

Please provide any additional information below.

If any more information is needed, I'll provide it.

LiveTV buffer not large enough

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play live TV channel
2. Shows buffering then live TV starts

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: continuous playback of that live tv channel until instructed to
stop.

Actual: live TV plays for a few seconds and then stops. repeated attempts
do the same thing each time. hit "I" key to bring up info, see that seek
bar goes to then end and playback stops.

If you instead pause playback as soon as it starts for just a few seconds,
you can then allow playback to continue with no problems. I assume from
seeing the numbers tick that you're refreshing periodically to get the new
file length. I think either increasing the buffer time or refreshing more
often would take care of the issue.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Mythbox Beta 3 SVN1062
Mythbackend TRUNK 0.22 - SVN 20490

Please provide any additional information below.
Using HDHOMERUN as capture device.

can't change recording schedule from tv guide

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start mythbox svn 1053 and then select tv guide
2. click on a program and change the rcord option to record once
3. Click save

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Unsure what expected output should be as i have never had this working but
the gui comes up with a message along the lines of "catchall error onclick
expected int"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Using ubuntu 9.04 with xbmc 9.04 alpa and latest version 10532 beta

Please provide any additional information below.

I've attached a copy of my mythbox.log which does seem to contain some
information related to the error.

screen. If I attempt to exit, I'm allowed back to the previous screen but
not any futher; Have to kill xbmc processes from there.

XBMC sometimes crashes when playing a show from the recordings list

I'm not sure exactly how to reproduce this problem; it simply seems that
occasionally when I play a show from the list of recordings, it will crash. It
doesn't
happen all the time, and it seems to happen more often if the computer has been
idle on the channel recordings list for a while, but that could just be bad
luck. I've attached the log file generated by mythbox.

This is on a computer running Ubuntu 8.10 with XBMC from XBMC's official
Intrepid repository. I also have the latest release of MythBox.

Also, XBMC dumped a core file when it crashed. Here's the top of the stack

This problem started a few versions ago though, I've just been too lazy to
report it. I really though this was a small mistake that would sort itself.

Please provide any additional information below.
Logs attached. This log is from a fresh install (of both xbmc and mythbox).
I select settings, start two recordings (works), then select the third
channel from the list to play, and the second is chosen.

[Feature Request] MythTV player support

Since MythTV is designed for handling and playing back its recorded data,
the MythTV internal player is currently better suited than the XBMC
dvdplayer for playing back MythTV data, particularly in the case of HD
content.

As the MythTV player can be launched independently of the MythTV frontend,
I would like to see MythBox capable of launching the MythTV player (rather
than remaining within XBMC) once the user selects a channel or recording to
watch.

Can not run MythBox (for the first time)

1. Extracted "mythbox-svn-1098.tar.gz" to C:\Documents and
Settings\<userid>\Application Data\XBMC\scripts, where <userid> is my login id.
2. Started XBMC and clicked on MythBox under the scripts list.

I get an error message (see screenshot please) and no MythBox settings
screen appears.

I am running XBMC 9.04 on Win32.

Broken Audio When Watching Live TV

What steps will reproduce the problem?
* Start XBMC
* Select MythBox
* Select "Watch TV"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
* Clear audio, instead the audio is broken.

MythTV works and XBMC inbuilt myth:// protocol works. Only seem to be
experiencing this problem when using MythBox.

When watching live I am experiencing broken audio seems in sync but hard to
tell as I only really hear very short, the picture seems okay. If I pause
the Live TV stream the sound seems to be okay for a while. I have tired
increasing the XBMC cache settings but have not noticed any change.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I am using MythBox 3/7/2009 Beta 2. I am running on a minimal install
Ubuntu 8.10, Xbmc (latest from svn) and default MythTV (from Ubuntu repos).

Please provide any additional information below.

MythBox setting are correct (test setup works). I can connect to the
mythbackend, see program guide, see channels, watch TV etc. But I did have
to install ffmepg to enable MythBox to work.

XBMC, MythTV (backend and frontend) etc all running locally within the same
environment.

I use MythTV as the reference platform but long for better XBMC integeration.

MythTV seems fine. The frontend is working, live TV, recording etc.

XBMC's inbuilt myth:// protocol works picture a not quite as good as MythTV
but provides limited functionality.

Any ideas where I mights start looking to identify the problem. Is this a
ffmpeg issue and I should provide an option to ffmpeg. Since this is a
minimal install of Ubuntu 8.10 am I likley to be missing some software?

Mythbox on Windows cannot find Mythtv recordings directory

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install mythbox script in Windows XP SP3 according to the readme
instructions.
2. Insert mythtv backend ip address and mythconverg password.
3. Select 'test settings' in mythbox setup.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output is that test was successful and mythbox starts to work.
Actual output is 'Recording directory /var/lib/mythtv/recordings does not
exist'

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Alpha release of mythbox(SVN 682). Windows XP SP3. XBMC for windows 9.04.1.

Please provide any additional information below.
Mythbox working fine on my combined backend/ frontend linux box (where the
recordings folder resides) using the same settings as input onto the
windows version of the script.

I have a symlink from /var/lib/mythtv/recordings to another location (on
another partition of the same linux box) where the actual recordings are
stored. Inputting this location as the recordings path returns the same
error message.

Mythbox doesn't work with Plex (osx xbmc variant (fork?))

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Using plex 0.7.5-bf77101, mythbox-svn-682
2. Install (tar xvfz) into ~/Library/Application\ Support/Plex/scripts/
3. restart plex, go to scripts menu, choose mythbox

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Mythbox should run - instead Running appears briefly and then this appears
on console:
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback

No ~/mythbox.log (err, whichever is supposed to appear) appears.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

OSX 10.5.6, developer kit installed.

Please provide any additional information below.

Running python on the command line shows 2.5, and interactively an 'import
site' does not complain. I note that Plex has libpython2.4.dylib - I don't
know if this is related.

I realize this is probably a Plex issue.

5. Max is OK

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Put a bigger buffer size in the settings

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
mythbox-svn-1055.tar.gz, but this has been a problem since the start.

Please provide any additional information below.
Have a local myth-backend. LiveTV is in the end of the attached log.

multiple recording dirs complains about 'directory does not exist'

http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?p=267460#post267460

>I thought it would be intuitive to separate paths with the platform
specific path separator

I thought I had tried that, so I double checked and still have a problem.
When I enter multiple paths separated by a colon, I get an error dialog
that says:
Recording directory 'mypath' does not exist.

The 'mypath' path is always the second directory in the list, so if I enter:
/mnt/mythtv/live:/mnt/mythtv/rec
I get:
Recording directory '/mnt/mythtv/rec' does not exist.
If I enter:
/mnt/mythtv/rec:/mnt/mythtv/live
I get:
Recording directory '/mnt/mythtv/live' does not exist.

If I enter three paths separated by colons, I still get an error referring
to the second path. All paths do actually exist and work fine if they are
the only path entered.

BTW: I'm running Kubuntu 8.04

Let me know if I can provide more info on this. Thanks again.
