binder-examples / getting-data Goto Github PK

Maybe it is a good idea to switch the example for "very large data" to something with less boilerplate and naming it after the library/file type that is being used. This would make it easier to discover which example to look at and open the door for adding more examples.

Potential other streaming/read on demand/read only specified subset ideas:

• #2 would be good to have
• geotiff
• ...?

We recently made it possible to talk to xrootd directly on mybinder.org. We should add/link to a repository that makes use of this (and preferably just this) to access very large files without having to download them first.

CERN has a lot of open-data that we could build on.
