The problem has been fixed by changing the database collation from utf8_mb4_general_ci to utf8_mb4_bin, so there is any commit apart from the added test case.

@justvanrossum I made some changes on dev environment and also changed the database collation, the test I added now pass successfully.
Could you please do more testing on dev environment before applying the same database changes in production?

I confirm it is now possible to have two glyphs with names that only differ in case. Thanks!
