Grouping will be coming as part of the revamped query syntax ("pipeline queries"), which should include this use case. For the index at the top, is this to make traversing the big list of videos easier by clicking on the letter you want?

Yes, my use-case was indeed to be able to navigate a big list of videos by clicking on the letters.

Generating an index is possible in DataviewJS and I don't see this coming to the Dataview query language any time soon; closing this for now.
