Feature Request: Proactive say about victor HOT 4 CLOSED

I would say the event would be something that pings the robot directly, perhaps through HTTP. Do you think that'd work? That way you could specify your own endpoints, and they could provide custom functionality.

It could be the case. That's fairly limiting, though.

Let's say I want to watch some external resource (a file, a URL, a queue, etc) and message when something happens.

Another important case is timers. Let's say I want to message every day at a certain time. Those timers could just be values in a config file. I could just spin off a goroutine that will wake up at the prescribed time and send a message.

The problem is, the ability to Send is currently bound to a Message.

Gotcha. So these would fall under the same mechanism of say a "poller" or "watcher" (or "scheduler").

Hey man, I've recently exposed the Brain and Client with the Campfire adapter. There you should be able to do something like this:

bot.Client().Room(roomId).Say(text)

This will allow you to send messages to the room outside of a Matcher context; on the robot itself.
