What steps will reproduce the problem?
ok. if I may.
Just yesterday i have 1.1.1 unlocked-jailbreaked-SIMFree iPhone. And...
I saw big article about upgrading to 1.1.2 - and working - still unlocked, etc.
I checked every point of attached manual. Download the proper software. And
step-by-step try
to fix it out.
But....
Almost at the end. I need to run Oktoprep - it hangs. I mean the application
and the iPhone.
It just STOP. OK.
So i rebooted the device... And from now on - all it starts....
Now.. when I Restore... (in iTunes) almost every 1.1.1 software that I have (I
have 3 of them -
from different sources...), after iPhone reboot - I got the standard startup
screen where Activate
in iTunes dialog appears. And there is a slide button to switch to Emergency
Call Mode. It
works... but anything else - NO
When I try to dial ANY number, the keyboard is terribly delaying (lag) - i see
what i type after 10-
15 seconds.
At the Main Screen (Welcome Page) I see BIG: Activate iPhone - connect to
iTunes - with little "i"
mark switching to IMEI preview... And beneath is Pop-up Window:
Repair Needed - Iphone cannot make or receive calls. - www.apple.com/support/
And that's all...
ANYBODY... Can someone please help me... Please... I'm wasted... Please have
mercy..
Can I install 1.1.1 and unlock it again...? Because I understand that I have
Modem Firmware
(baseband) 04.02.13_G - after trying to install 1.1.2 ???
Or I have the 04.02.13_G when i'm using 1.1.1 unlocked too....?
Or.. how to change modem firmware version (04.02.13_G) without Wi-Fi
Connection?
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Upgrade to 1.1.2 and unlock all features.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Apple iPhone 1.1.1 on Mac OS X Leopard and MS Windows and Vista (3)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upgraded 1.0.2 unlocked iPhone to 1.1.2, downgraded to 1.1.1
2. Jailbroke with iBrickr+www.jailbreakme.com, and install anySIM 1.2
3. Run anySIM 1.2
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I am wanting to simunlock my iPhone to work with Tmobile. I've ran anySIM
1.2 many times and only received these 2 error messages: "Please store
your phone, Unable to load secpack data" and "Couldnt load the secpack
data"
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I have been using anySIM 1.2 on WinXP.
Please provide any additional information below.
I did receive a success message on my second try of anySIM 1.2, but the
phone wasnt actually sim unlocked because I couldnt make or receive calls.
So I restored and started all over again. I must have ran anySIM 1.2, 15-
20 times with on that one semi-success on the second try.
Also, I donated $75 to Ronald McDonald Charity House on behalf of the
iPhone Elite Dev Team. Thanks, you guys are great!

I think my Iphone needs a bit of help:
during AnySim 1.2. the app stucked (20min)
I had to (!) restart the Iphone.
Now the Iphone keeps rebooting, shows first the white apple logo after a
while and a part of the progress wheel. Then it restarts
automatically..and again and again...
I can Access the phone with the iphoneinterface (Ibricker), WINSCP, PUTTY-
...
Setenv autoboot true etc. doesnt accept.
Killall is not possible to execute
Home-Poweroff to get into rebuild mode is also not possible.
Googled for a solution, seems many others have this problem also but
there's no solution provided.
Itunes does not recognize it anymore (restarted Laptop too)
Does anyone have an Idea how I can get my Iphone back working.
Thanks
Jaenchen

When I launch minicom and enter AT+XSIMSTATE=1 on my 1.1.1 unlocked iPhone I
recieve the
following output:
+XLOCK: "PN",3,0,"PU",5,0,"PP",5,0,"PC",5,0,"PS",5,0
I've found that the first number (3) stands for: unlock attempt limit reached.
Therefore I can't make
any calls at this moment because my iPhone says No service (in the upper left
corner).
Does somebody have any idea on how to fix my problem?
Thanks in advance, Henk de Haan, The Netherlands, henkdehaan[at]gmail[dot]com

Basically the iPhone has several layers of software much like a computer. The
OSX based OS runs
on the iPhone in a reduced version. The software installed in the iphone and
the basic version of
the OS can be restored to default using restore in itunes for most cases.
The iPhone also has a baseband which is basically the firmware to the
modem/voice
communications and the NVRAM which stores much of the information about the
phone. The
NVRAM cannot be edited directly unlike much of the code on the iphone (unless
one uses ARM
code much like IPSF does to unlock the phone) and is encrypted.
The Anysim hack exploited a routine check in the 1.0.2 baseband to open a
backdoor into
unlocking the phone by answering "yes" to a check routine in the baseband. This
caused the
iPhone to unlock but unfortunately taking this shortcut also (reversibly)
damaged several data
points by forcing the phone to write several other bogus entries in the seczone
which stores
some checks related to the phones IMEI and possibly in the NVRAM. It changes
sectors
A003AC88 - A003AD67 and changes your checksum bytes at A003BFFe-f.
When one tries to update to 1.1.1 in itunes the baseband in the iphone is
updated to a new
version which has a different set of check routines. When these checks page the
corrupted data
in the seczone the iphone's imei is not properly registered by the software
output and causes the
phone to "brick". This can be reversed by following the instructions listed on
the main page of
the elite team. This allows to REVERSE the update but does NOT FIX the damage
done by anysim.
The reason that one cannot update to 1.1.1 from 1.0.2 is that until someone
figures out what the
damage was done is; it cannot be reversed. This may take some time and is
probably not
necessary until the team figures out a way to unlock 1.1.1 since you would not
be able to use
your phone on a non ATT sim.

In a bit of a jam.
I TRIED to activate, jailbreak and unlock my iPhone that came from apple
with v1.1.1 firmware on it, the same way I would for an iPhone with v1.0.2
firmware on it (oops!)
Of course I couldn't get passed step one because the version of
iNdependence I was using isn't compatible with the new firmware (v1.1.1).
So I put my iPhone into restore mode by pressing home and power button
until the "yellow triangle" appeared, restored my iPhone to v1.0.2 with
iTunes (option+Restore), then jumped back into iNdependence and proceeded
as usual.
-Ran independence 1.2.1 to activate and jailbreak
-Ran appTapp to load installer.
-Ran installer to load community sources, DNS Tools, BSD Subsystem, OpenSSH
-Connected iPhone to WiFi
-Connected to iPhone via ftp client(cyberduck)
-Uploaded & Overwrote lockdwnd file
-Uploaded & ran iUnlock.app
Once iUnlock was finished I popped my non-AT&T simcard in, and as you
probably already guessed it didn't recognize the sim.
So my question is this. Given my situation, will this method restore my
iPhone so I can use iNdependence 1.2.5 and anySIM 1.1 to unlock it? (with
full functionality of course)
Cheers

I am a user of an iUnlocked 1.02 iPhone. I was able to do a 1.1.1 jailbreak
and was successful. I also tried to experiment and downgraded just the
baseband. So now I have a 1.1.1 phone with a software 3.14 baseband
(software unlocked). However, the following are my findings in this setup.
1. When using the 1.0.2 lockdown file the iPhone can no longer be detected
by iTunes (cannot be detected by the PC). However, all phone functions as
well as WiFi, SSH, GPRS, and Bluetooth work well.
2. When using the 1.1.1 lockdown file the iPhone can be detected by the PC
and iTunes and seems to be activated. However, it can no longer get any
telco signal (GPRS is also no longer running). WiFi and SSH still works though.
Is it possible to modify the 1.1.1 lockdown file to fix this, similar to
the PACAY modded lockdown?
By the way, I can revert the iPhone back to 1.0.2 and 3.14 without any issue.

Trying to install bsd subsystem using installer app and it does not work,
no problem there is a workaround.
Download the bsd package BSD_Subsystem-1.5.zip( search around you ll find
it should be over 6mb) , put it up on a webserver, open
/var/root/ibrary/Installer and get RemotePackages.plist, open it with
property list editor en edit node 113 ( the one with bsd in it) so that
location points to the file on your webserver ( this might even work with a
local path but had no time to test), upload file to phone( remember to
backup original file) and restart phone, then start up installer app and
install bsd subsystem, after by just refreshing sources your file with
changs will be overwritten but you will have bsd subsys installed

Hi everyone, I need some major help regarding downgrading from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2
(just firmware)
here. I think I encountered a rare problem here. I'm not perfectly sure if this
is the place to post
this but would like to present it anyway.
I have an iPhone (1.0.2 OTB). It was activated and jailbroken with iNdependence
1.2.2 but not
unlocked for phone functions. I used it for a week until one day when I tried
to install apptapp
but chose the wrong firmware (I chose 1.0.0 instead of 1.0.2). And I got the
yellow triangle
screen. Not knowing how to fix this, I risked to upgrade it to 1.1.1 with the
hope of downgrading
to it's original 1.0.2 status again for activation.
But ever since that I haven't been able to restore it to 1.0.2. I restored it a
hundred times to 1.1.1
and tried to downgrade it to 1.0.2 so that I could at least use iNdependence to
activate it. I tried
various methods entering DFU with iBrickr, iNdependence and manually and
shift-selecting 1.0.2
fw to restore, on Windows XP and MAC, under iTunes 7.4.2 and 7.4.1.
But I keep getting the 1.1.1 usb cable and itunes icon screen, which means it's
still with 1.1.1. So
it becomes impossible to re-activate under 1.0.2 and there's no method
available to activate and
unlock a 1.1.1 that's activated and upgraded from 1.0.2 at this moment.
I at least would be very happy if I got to use the other functions. It's now
basically useless. I
started a thread elsewhere but haven't been able to fix it with the suggestions
posted. Please
guide me here. Thank you so much!

Dear expert guys !
Needing some hands for this problem.
Im having some iPhones which zeroed baseband loader. Virgin or whatever
exiting methods have no luck. Phone still INCORRECT SIM and IMEI: 00499...
I did some hardware trick and now I have full baseband file of 3.14 and
4.01 dumped by hardware from working iPhones.
Im trying to find software solution for flashing fullfile baseband into
phone but got jam at bbupdate (I fixed the header of the file and
bbupdater can see it as original ICE314..fls) but get another error: file
size mismatch.
pls discuss and give me some idea. Thankss

I have a UK OTB iphone which i had downgraded to v1.1.1 activated and
jailbroken.
I wanted to upgrade this version to 1.1.2, so started following the
tutorial to do so. I installed oktoprep and went to update the iphone
through itunes to 1.1.2.
I got an error and tried to use ibrickr to get it out of dfu mode, but
ibrickr wasn't detecting the iphone. The screen on the phone was just the
cable and itunes logo, but no yellow triangle or anything like that. I
tried itunes again, but i kept getting the itunes could not restore
message. I found a post of someone mentioning using apptapp installer with
the iphonecomm tool, this worked and restored the iphone into normal mode.
But the thing is, everytime i now try and restore the iphone using itunes,
it just won't work, it will say it is preparing the iphone to be restored
but will just error out. So i have to keep using the iphonecomm tool to
boot it into normal mode.
Does anyone else know how i can fix this problem? Or even suggest what has
went wrong with it?
UPDATE: When using ibrickr, i get these errors -

basically, i unlocked my iphone using the instructions giving and it
worked fine, but as soon as itunes updated it to 1.1.2 problems occur.
i think the update bricked my phone, everytime i plug the phone into a
computer, the computer produces a message like this -
'usb device connected to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does
not recognize it'
and that happens on other pc's aswell, so i guess its the iphone's problem.
Effectively itunes cannot recognize it, and i cannot restore my iphone, on
top of that, i cannot access the installer application to try and
virginize my phone or do anything with it, i am really stuck, can someone
help me?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. ran virginizer on 1.0.2 (never update to 1.1.1 before) -> "FW differences"
2. tried to downgrade baseband (ieraser, bbupdater -f ICE...fls -e ICE..eep)
3. baseband is empty
4. running bbupdater -v doesn't give a modem version
5. no call, no wifi, no bluetooth, no sound, no imei
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
running bbupdater -v doesn't give a modem version
1) tried restoring to firmware 1.0.2 .. then run bbupdater -v -> same result
2) restore to firmware 1.1.1, then downgraded, run bbupdater -v -> same result
3) run ieraser, run bbupdater -f ICE..fls -e ICE..eep, bbupdater -v -> EEP
check sum error (tried different EEP sources)
4) run bbupdater -f ICE... fls -> .FLS failed download
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
current on 1.0.2
Please provide any additional information below.
baseband seems to be empty, and unable to load new baseband using bbupdater
will be helpful if elite dev team can come up with something that force
flash baseband on it rather than having a checksum to verify. not sure
where the checksum comes from. i understand that bbupdater is an apple
software, but is it possible to make a 3rd party flasher?
there are other ppl with the same problem as me after trying out virginizer
and failed. got in deeper trying to fix it. Hope there can be a solution.
thank you

What steps will reproduce the problem?
I updated to 1.1.2 and then downgrade to 1.0.2 and then restored (as it was
not able to update from 1.0.2) to 1.1.1
and tried the this anySIM 1.2 elite version (by following the every step).
Even after i jailbreak i can see that my sim card is detected by iPhone but
no signal (It automatically shows carrier welcome news set automated in the
sim card).
Then again i downgrade it to 1.0.2 and jailbreak and use idemocracy 2
(http://idemocracy.googlecode.com/files/iDemocracy2.rar) to free my iphone
and it was activated in one click and actually not required any sim
unlocking tools like anysim1.2 elite version etc.
I also noticed that ibrickr0.91 can detect and browse the iphone with
version 1.1.2 even while i did free the phone with ibricker 0.91 during
downgrade to 1.0.2
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- Anysim report that it can't unlock and re-start the phone. I tried
several time under 1.1.1 but always same result.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- Windows XP SP2 with iTunes 7.4
Please provide any additional information below.
Now i am running my iPhone with firmware 1.0.2 with new modem firmware
4.02.13_G. I look for every way but could not solve the sim unlock issue.
While i jailbreak the 1.1.2 it shows the signal but can't call, receive
call, as i know that this is due to the simlink issue and country code etc.
Hope will get a easy solution for 1.1.2 so that can use in any carrier in
any country.
Thanks/

For better or worse, the original iPhone dev team developed the vast
majority of the code in anySIM. The efforts of elite to release a 1.1.2
version are ultimately beneficial to the iPhone user base in that an unlock
is available as quickly as possible.
That said, the contention made by members of the original team that "anySIM
1.2" is an authorized modification to their code and that the credit shown
in it (especially the splash screen) is misleading is well warranted.
Could we consider modifying the current 1.2 download to more clearly give
credit and thanks to whom it's due? Preferably on the splash screen and
not buried in the credits screen? The effort taking to adapt anySIM for
1.2 is trivial compared to the effort in originally creating the
application and extracting the secpacks it needs to operate.
It would go a LONG way toward smoothing ruffled relations between the
groups. The schism isn't healthy for the community.
(Just my $0.02, for what it's worth.)

im not really sure if this is where i can ask for help but hopefully it
is..im not quite sure what i did wrong, the phone was unlocked with anysim
when it was on 1.0.2 then it was accidentally updated..i tried using one of
those scripts to re-virginize it..i went through with the following
instructions:
virginator 0.3
--by benanzo
This script gives you the option to just backup your
seczone, or backup and re-virginize.
It is a completely automated
method to re-virginize your baseband.
All credit goes to the iPhone Elite dev team.
HOW TO:
1) Download the verginizer pack here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/64647223/virginizer_pack.zip.html
2) Unzip it. This will create a directory called "virginizer_pack"
3)) Put the file "virginator.sh" into the "verginizer_pack" directory.
4) Copy the "verginizer_pack" directory to your iPhone.
s5) Use MobileTerminal or SSH to change to the "virginizer_pack" directory.
6) Give "virginator.sh" permission to execute:
./chmod +x virginator.sh
7) Execute virginator.sh and follow the prompts.
./virginator.sh
If errors occur they will be saved in "error.log" in the virginizer_pack
directory.
after doing all of that i thought i had it..it went through right until the
very end sumthing to do with bbupdater messed up and this is what i got in
the error log:
==================

im trying to help my friend brasuco to get a easier script working to
automate iphone unlocking....
right now his script jailbreak (using toc2rta tiff exploit) then
jailbreaks, fix youtube, add installer then add anysim.
the problem is anysim needs bsd subsystem to work... but i dont think it
uses all of the bsd utilities just some parts of it (like killall) so what
i need to find out is what parts are used? in order to install just the
needed ones?
thanks in advance and sorry if this is not the right place to ask this.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I tried to unlock my iphone as i need to use it with a german sim, i
followed those instructions: http://iphone.unlock.no/.
it worked all fine until the very end when it said: "oops, there was a
error" (or something like that.)
2. First, the phone went back activation screen, so i tried to start from
scratch but could not even make emergency calls. I connected it to iTunes
and that said that the sim card was unregistered.
3. So I tried to restore it but each and everytime I only get an error at
the end. (iPhone could not be restored, unknown error.)
I think the baseband is flashed and that's why it won't restore. But how to
flash it again without having it work at all???
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I just want it to restore!!!! Or virginize or whatever....
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Firmware was updated to 1.1.1 before starting to unlock it.
Please provide any additional information below.
I can not go to a Apple Store as I life in Germany...
I also tried downloading a new iTunes version, restoring to 1.0.2. etc.
Nothing worked.
So now I am really desperate and would be EXTREMLY GRATEFUL for any advice!
Thanks so much in advance,
Laura
