This application will suggest delicious recipes to hungry college students based solely on the ingredients in their pantry.
Dijkstra’s Alcoholism Final Project
Our web application will be used to help people come up with meal ideas based on the limited ingredients that they have access to in their dorm, apartment, or home pantry at any given time. They will use the search bar to look up ingredients and will be presented with popular recipes using that ingredient. Users can also choose to save a recipe for their personal "cookbook" under their account.
For the required functionalities, the html input field will autocomplete common ingredient names when the user types them. Once users sign up and create accounts, the app will allow logged-in users to save a recipe to their account for later use. Users will be able to edit and delete their save recipes, but only have the privileges to view popular recipes from other users. The backend of the app would be used to retrieve recipes from an API and render them on a page. It will also allow users to create their own recipes, storing them for later use for rendering, editing their own recipes, and deleting them if they so choose (demonstrating full CRUD capabilities). The backend will also be employed to allow for proper registration, login and sign-out for users.
The target audience of our web application is other college students, but the app would be useful to anyone with an interest in exploring new meal ideas. With the app, users would be able to discover new meals they would be unlikely to encounter otherwise.
