rpilocator-rss-feed's Issues

Super Silly Question - basic node red question

I was able to install node-red, import this flow, but I have no idea if it's working. Is there a way to easily test the workflow, making it think there is a new item to notify me on?

Twilio integration

Any chance we can get a "Twilio" version of the py?

Or a node-red "http request".

I am trying, with node-red, and have made some progress..... but can't figure it all out.

Doesn't run by itself every 1 minutes

I run the script with this command nohup python3 rpilocator-rss-ntfy.py & but it only runs 1 time and then it stays without doing anything in the nohup.out nothing comes out

Node-red Ntfy

I'm a noob at this...

I want to use the node red flow to send updates via ntfy.
I though it would be simple to amend the http request node to post to ntfy, but when it runs i didnt get what i expected, I suspect the format in the function node is wrong, as I see this in ntfy:

{"type":"link","title":"xlocator Stock Alert","body":"Stock Alert (AT): RPi 4 Model B - 8GB RAM is In Stock at Semaf","url":"rpilocator.com?vendor=semaf&utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss"}

Coding is definitely my weak point. Now if it was a bunch of components on a pcb, I could fix that, but I don't know where to start here...
Any help would be appreciated!

How to test this script?

Hello!
Thanks a lot for looking into my issue :-)

I just tried the same script with this URL.

FEED_URL = 'https://rpilocator.com/feed/?country=NL'

I got the same old error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "D:\Data\Software\scripts\rpilocator-rss-pushover.py", line 60, in <module>
    control.pop()
IndexError: pop from empty list

For reference:
The feed only stores the last 20-25 alerts (can't remember the exact number). You are filtering the feed to US items only and there aren't any US items on the feed right now since there has been 20-25 alerts since the last US alert.

For instance, if you change the filter to NL instead of US and leave the line for control.pop() you should be able to test it.

If you find any problems, please open a new issue.

Abduzcan

I run the script with this command nohup python3 rpilocator-rss-ntfy.py but it only runs 1 time and then it stays without doing anything and in the nohup.out I get this Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/lacabra/Escritorio/rpilocator-rss-feed-main/rpilocator-rss-ntfy.py", line 84, in <module> time.sleep(59) KeyboardInterrupt

Nice to have: a log or output from the script

(Not really an bug or an issue, just a request)
ok I got the script running on Windoze + Python + Pushover to my Android phone. Notification test from pushover's website works fine. When I run the script, there is no script output. I wonder if there is a way to test that script. I do not want to miss a notification :-)

I noticed that on Pushover's website, my registered application now appears in the drop down for sending a test notification. I tried it, it did send out a notification. Still there was no output from the script at the console. I am no programmer, but won't it be nice to have some kind of output on the console, or maybe a log from the Python script?

Script did not work today

So I have my script running on my always on Windows 10 machine. Have tested a test version of the script that it is actually able to contact the RSS feed and gives 200 return code

Today morning, Digi-Key went in stock. I noticed two things:

  1. I did not get a notification on my phone
  2. The auto refresh and alert sound on also did not work.

I got a twitter alert and then when I hit F5 on rpilocator website, it started showing Digi-Key
