About

Auto Feeder Helmet is a Minecraft mod since version 1.12.2 that adds a simple way off staying saturated.

This is done by a simple item called "Helmet Feeding Module", which can easily be crafted in early game.
Once crafted you put it into a crafting grid with any helmet (modded or vanilla) and it will show "Auto feeding mode" in its GUI:

Any helmet with this trait will automatically consume any food items in your inventory when you are hungry.
This way you will never have to deal with eating again, just make sure to always have some food with you.

Since 40.1.0/43.2.0/45.1.0 you craft the helmet and the module together in the smithing table. You now also can uncraft it, by putting the helmet in any crafting grid.

Notes

  • Some helmets may have different code structures, so it won't work on any helmet, but with most it is fine.
  • Since version 1.7.0 every helmet that can be constructed can be found inside the creative tab of this mod.

NBT data scrubbed clean

When adding a auto feeder to a helmet from the spectrite mod, all the enchants etc get totally deleted.

Also, on that note I was editing the nbt of the helm to add the effect manually without losing it, and the "auto feeder attached" thing in yellow pops up even if the AutoFeederHelmet tag is set to 0.

PS: I love the mod! Keep up the good work!

Over-eating

Switching to spectator mode continually eats.

Causing Crash with MC launcher

Tried to add FeederHelmet-1.6.1 and it causes immediate crash in the MC launcher. I don't even get as far as trying to load my world. I am running 1.14.4 but the last mod file was released in July and I am running Forge 28.1.26 which is much newer.

I think I found the three crash reports. Crashed during initial launch and all show FeederHelmet-1.6.1 Error

Stop Eating Everything

Hello, I love your mod! I am wondering if there is a way to blacklist any foods, ie... spider eyes, zombie flesh, raw foods, etc...?

[Enhancement] Add configuration option: food_blacklist_smeltable = true

When set to true, all food items with a smelting recipe should be automatically blacklisted.

While this can be achieved by manually adding every item to food_blacklist, this becomes difficult when using other mods that may add many food items.

Setting this to true by default also seems reasonable, as eating before smelting is typically a waste, and if you're desperate you can always eat food manually. But it seems like a conscious effort should be made to eat "raw" foods.

(And I second the suggestion to at least add "minecraft:rotten_flesh" to food_blacklist by default, à la #22.)

Suggestion: 'default' setting for "food_blacklist" option

I've seen some questions about disabling rotten_flesh & I had the same question too but it was answered in the curseforge posts.

This led me to add more items to the "food_blacklist" option - but because I used the semi-colon instead of the comma, my game kept crashing, which made me think that maybe if there were at least 2 items in the "food_blacklist" option as defaults then people could quickly see the format of the string & could then easily add their own choices. The list I made was based on food I wanted to cook before eating (both for food & saturation levels - thanks to the "AppleSkin" mod for teaching the difference) but also for items I wanted to replant.

I eventually used the line:

food_blacklist = ["minecraft:rotten_flesh", "minecraft:porkchop", "minecraft:beef", "minecraft:mutton", "minecraft:salmon", "minecraft:chicken", "minecraft:rabbit", "minecraft:potato"]

I did not add cod, carrots, tropical fish, spider eye, etc. since I find those items useless in my play-throughs - & they add to the "A Balanced Diet" Advancement.

construct armory support

i have been playing with this mod quite a while, but then i decided to use construct armory armor (armor addon for tin con) . can you add compatibility to helmet from this mod

[BUG] Helmets can't be crafted

Hi, great mod, however with the latest 1.16.5 version there seems to be a bug, the item would not be able to be combined with any helmets including vanilla. But I then installed the earliest version of the mod and it worked perfectly. I am playing with mods, over 120 currently, so it could be some interaction there.

Removes offhand item

I've been running into an issue where my auto feeder will feed me and then the item i have in my offhand will get removed and put into my inventory.

Bread?

For some reason helmet avoids bread, I even added it into whitelist, but it didn't change anything. (1.18.1)
