Hi @simmel,

I've noticed that the json formatter parses and redumps data with more info when the message is detected as a json encoded string. My question is, why is this necessary? Is there any historical tool that demands this, or a workaround for a particular known issue? I'm asking this because I filed this bug in rails regarding TaggedLogging usage, and I mentioned your gem, and I'm not sure if I got the context right, so I'm asking your input here, or in the aforementioned issue, where the discussion may go forward.

It would be nice to be able to change the message key as well. Our logs use msg instead for example.
