dotfiles's Issues

WIKI: How to use a custom prompt

Show others how to add stuff to the appropriate folder under oh-my-zsh to allow them to have "custom" things with out going though the pain i did...

WIKI: Add how to setup Molokai-Agnoster

Just need to document how to setup Agnoster, as it dosnt work out of the box

  • Setup of Powerline

Section for OSX with iTerm2

  • Changing fonts to be a powerline font

v2.2 - All calls to UTF-8 are "errors"

Need to investigate why the current dev version thinks that UTF-8 is bad, add it back once i get it figured out, or tweek it to use what ever the new way of doing it is.

IMAP: Convert from POP3 to IMAP (Gmail)

It seems via documentation that 99% of the specialty of Mutt is in IMAP, but that also includes a lot bigger headache then we already have with POP3.

I still want to give it a try though ๐ŸŽฑ

WIKI: Document Key Bindings

Similar to what ive done with TMux, have a document of things ive customized
Also document all "extra" stuff needed for i3 to work (if someone wants to do what i have)

README update

Need to add details (detailed out in TODO at bottom of readme)

Update documentation to sound cool

Under NVim install change:
cd ~/.config/nvim && mkdir colors undo swap spell backup && cd -
to
cd $_ && mkdir colors undo swap spell backup && cd -

HOW TO use these as templates

Need to write up a document on HOW to use these as templates.

  • how to clone down the repo (this is a common question)
  • how to symlink these files
  • how to create a personal repo to copy these into
  • how to use these as copy from files to the ones they create
  • how to push back to github

Convert this repo to "Template Dotfiles"

The newest idea is that I could convert this repo to "template" dot files.

By that i mean that even I only upload fully documented dotfiles that are meant for others to consume easily removing TPM and vim plugins but having a guide on how to add them is a good idea also
I would then create another repo, for my personal dotfiles, which would consume these dotfiles as what they are "templates" and allow for others to see how someone can take and modify these as needed.

I would not remove anyones ability to use these dotfiles as regular dotfiles, but I would remove a lot of the "well, no one uses this but me" type of stuff.

WIKI: Document Mutt

The README file found inside of the mutt folder is my current wiki (because its easy to document as i work on stuff)

Need to pull that into the actual wiki

Self install script

Need to update install file to preform the following minimal features:

  • Prompt the user for what they want to install (tmux, zsh, vim)
  • Symlink to the chosen .symlink files
    • Backing up any existing files
    • Report all errors
  • No longer guess what OS a user is running, after the user tells me what they want to install, check if they exist
    • If they do, then no need to worry about OS
    • If they dont, then you need to ask what OS the user is running and try to install them
  • Allow user to pass a set of flags (have not come up with them yet) to do things like:
    • Install everything
    • Install only X
  • Add NVim as an option here
  • Mutt will not be a part of this :)
