This may be harder to do than anticipated because it appears that Akismet doesn't support CORS headers. This means there may be no way to send these requests cross-origin.

Also in retrospect I'm not entirely sure this is actually a useful client-side feature. If a client was using this to validate user input then any reasonable spammer could just bypass it entirely.

The one use case I could see would be running spam checks on content client side that wasn't generated by the user, but in that case it would likely make more sense to just do it server side.
