Add Messages plugin

Seems like this should be easy as it's just the regular app with a photo output?

Try new process for saving photos

After you snap a photo and it gets saved to the camera roll, if you want to then pull it up to look at it, it gets double-dithered on screen. It might be worth adding a step to the photo-snapping process:

  1. tap the shutter button to take the photo
  2. go into still-photo-editing mode, same as picking an image from the camera roll
  3. optionally update the filter settings, then hit Save to actually save the photo

This adds a minimum of one tap to every "shutter release", but since these filters are so variable in how they look as a still, it probably saves time/taps in actual use.

Adjustable Color Callout tolerance

It would be nice to be able to expand and contract the range of "similar" colors in Callout mode. Devices with "Force Touch" could use that to intuitively do this: press harder, get more colors.

Add app settings

Ideas for configurable app settings:

  • Save original unfiltered photo (default off)
  • Save 1x PNG version in addition to 2x JPG (default off)
  • Video frame rate 2-30 frames per second
  • Save animated GIF instead of (in addition to?) video

Bluetooth audio disabled

This is an odd one. I was playing audio to a Bluetooth speaker and it switched to the iPhone speaker when Dithr was the active app. I suppose it has something to do with video recording but the result is the same whether in photo or video mode.

Ability to zoom in on photos

Depending on the photo and college palette, sometimes it is hard to see the distinctions between the different filter options. Especially when editing an old photo, it might be handy to be able to zoom in to 100% to see what pixels look like at full size.

This could either be achieved using the typical pinch-and-zoom process, or something like a press-and-hold on the photo to see the 100% zoom and then then zoom back out to normal mode when the hold is released. The third option is a button, which would clutter the UI but would not reset the callout color in the process.

Overscan

Some filters can show lines along the frame edge. Might be worth adding a few throwaway pixels on all sides.

Video coloring is different than preview

The final product of video recording often has completely different coloring than what is shown on screen during recording. In particular, pale colors seem to wash out completely to grey while some reds will get oversaturated.
