Before starting the web server, assets should be read from disk and stored in memory to eliminate disk reads.

The current response is HTTP status code 200 which is incorrect.

While not really an issue with r/funny or r/gifs it is pretty annoying on some other subreddits.

Currently, threads are ordered by image load time. The problem is that cached images always load before uncached images. This means the top half of the board rarely changes as cached images dominate.

Currently, content is served uncompressed. See this gist for an example implementation.

Would love to be able to embed an image stream generated by Panoptikos. Is there a way to do that?

Rebuilding the board doesn't cancel requests.

Before the old Panoptikos is replaced with the new version, the new version should be able to handle all old URLs. Currently, the user gets to see 404 Not Found errors. Possible solutions: Redirect the user or (if RSS feed) inform her of the change.

here's what i imagine: if the link is to a gallery on imgur, panoptikos shows the first image with a plus visible in the top left corner. when you click on the plus, the gallery expands, so you can open every single picture separately (for example for wallpapers)

Compiling the JavaScript code with SIMPLE_OPTIMIZATIONS works but results in a file that is about 150 kB larger than one that is compiled with ADVANCED_OPTIMIZATIONS.

Recently, posts in Panoptikos stopped properly rendering and now the raw markdown is shown. While still navigable, this has been a detrimental blow to the user experience for text posts. Granted that's not the primary use case of the app, it was still a fantastic platform for reading until the breakage.

I'm assuming Reddit changed the API to stop pre-rendering HTML or something, because the rest of the app still works flawlessly.

Thanks for making this, by the way, I struggled with not wanting to install an app and not using Reddit's mobile site for years before I discovered this. 🍻

Every time the CSS or JS file is compiled, it is named compiled.css or compiled.js. Browsers with aggressive caching will not download the new file if it has the same name as an already cached one.

Trying to view /r/SeaPorn on Panoptikos doesn’t work. It fails with the message “There are no threads here”.

The "old" panoptikos opened links to imagaes directly without an imgur or whatsoever page surrounding it, and the commetns when clicking on the post title.
the new one however opens the imgur page for both clicks on the image and on the title.
since there is a link to the comments now, the post title can have another use.
it would be nice, especially on mobile devices, to have the image open directly, when clicking the image, and the imgur (or whatever site is used) site when clicking the post title.
for example:
Click on Image: http://i.imgur.com/s0A2Yfs.jpg
Click on Title: http://imgur.com/s0A2Yfs
this provides a quick and comfortable way to save images (for example wallpapers) both on your mobile device as well as on your computer,

If the page is loaded, some time passes (minutes or hours) and you click on "Load more", images can appear a second time in the stream.
