godot-volumetric-cloud-demo's Introduction

Volumetric Clouds

This is a demo implementing one way of drawing volumetric cloudscapes in Godot sky shaders.

This demo uses animated clouds generated from ray marching 3D textures. It features automatic time of day adjustments just by rotating the sun.

Renderer: Vulkan

godot-volumetric-cloud-demo's Issues

Clouds visually reset position

The clouds visually reset after about 1 minute.
They do their job they move slowly with the speed you set , they create and dissapear as they should and suddenly they reset positions.
It should have a transition.

Also a small video to display what I mean:

Clouds are pixelated

Idk if I'm missing something but for me clouds margin looks pixelated.

I considered using a higher resolution noise texture but I have no idea how you generated those. Can you give some help?

Add support for 3D Volumetric Cloud

Hi. Could you add support for 3D Volumetric Cloud like in Microsoft Flight Simulator, but with the option to reduce the quality?
Let me know if you could.
Thanks in advance!

Option for cloud position

Hey there,

first of all, thank you for this project, I've been playing around with it for some time now and the results are really great!
I'm currently working on a small prototype "above the clouds" and adjusted the shader to render the clouds below the view (rather than always above).

I've made the adjustment by just negating the EYEDIR within the sky function. I was thinking maybe this could be expanded to a simple shader param, but I don't have enough experience with shader code yet to create a potential PR.
