Thanks for this. Very very much. It worked when Layout Inspector (both "live" and "legacy") showed nothing, and uiautomatorviewer just would not run at all. I think that being less fancy helped.

Some issues:

1. On my LG G6 (LGE LG-H872), it would only display (on the web page) the top quarter or so of the root window, and nothing from Settings. Other windows I tried were fine, but I didn't try a lot. The identify-the-view logic worked just fine even in the blank part of the root window, but nothing at all came from Settings. (Are really complex windows overwhelming it -- less complex subscreens of Settings are fine.)
2. The text viewer shows all of the nodes, but no information from the event itself. In the odd situation I was chasing the event.getClassName() result was important. It'd be nice to see the event info.
3. Landscape images are huge - you need a 2-wide display to see everything.
4. I also had a problem with landscape views being misaligned to the image, but it fixed itself so I can't repro. It might be associated with "forced landscape" applications (which the one where I noticed the problem is).
