cap's Issues

High Priority - Changes to Select Policy Topics

Hey Geoff,

This is a high priority issue that needs to be addressed before the conference. Within the Select Policy Topics box, it's unclear that a user can expand each of the major topics to reveal subtopics. We think this could be fixed using a hover over in which the color of the arrow to the right of the major topic changes to dark blue and the name of the major topic (e.g., defense) is bolded to indicate that the major topic can be clicked to expand and reveal minor topics.

Additionally, the major topics need to appear in the same order as they appear in the codebook (e.g., Macroeconomics 1, Civil Rights 2, Health 3, etc.)

Best,
Michelle

Low Priority - Trends Tool Button

Hey Geoff,

This is a low priority issue that we don't want addressed until after the conference. With regard to the top line on the current home page, some new users have told us that its difficult to identify how to get to the trends tool. One suggestion is to include a smaller version of the button we've already created for the trends tool in the header of the home page. Wanted to give you a heads up that we'd like to discuss this after the conference.

Additionally, we'd like to discuss some slight modifications to the current trends tool button on the country pages, specifically, rounding the corners on the button.

Michelle

CAP Logo should be transparent

Hey Geoff,

The logo should be transparent where it is currently white, so that we can move it around to different colored backgrounds. Currently the logo looks like a white square when it appears on the bottom grey footer on each page.

Count vs Percent Total

Hey Geoff,

When I use the options at the bottom of the graph to choose stacked area count or stacked area percent total, the axis remains a count and does not shift to become a percent total measure.

Michelle

Column Measure

Hey Geoff,

If you select column for all series, the graph produces a stacked column rather than individual columns for each series. It does this only after you've gone back and for between a stacked column and regular column. It looks like you can never get back to a regular column after you've selected a stacked column.

Michelle

High Priority - Password Recovery

Hey Geoff,

This is a high priority issue that should be addressed before the conference. We need a password recovery system for users, given that it's likely that at least some people may create a login at the conference and then immediately forget it.

CAP Logo and Header

Hi Geoff,

Just a reminder to include the new logo and header design from Suloni when you have a chance.

High Priority - Recent Charts Populate Graph When clicked

Hey Geoff,

This is a high priority issue that needs to be addressed before the conference. At this time, if you click on a recent chart the options that created that chart do not populate in the big graph. I think we've already discussed this, but if not, we'd like users to be able to "go back" to a recent graph by clicking on it.

Michelle

Delay on Graph Loading

Hey Geoff,

I'm experiencing an odd delay when I add series to the graph tool. Rather than adding each line fairly quickly after selecting the series, the tool has a significant delay between clicking on series on the left and having them appear on the graph. The delay is enough to make users second-guess themselves and think they did something incorrectly.

For example, I choose Penn Bills on Defense, Banking and Civil Rights

Get Updates

Hey Geoff,

This is an item for both you and I. Get updates is obviously not working right now. Would you work with me to get this feature working?

Best,
Michelle

High Priority - Hover Over for Select countries, Select dataset types, etc.

Hey Geoff,

We noticed that its currently not clear that a user can click on Select countries, Select dataset types and Select policy topics. We think a hover over may help make it clear for users that they can click to expand any one of these categories. We suggest that the hover over could manifest as a color change to the actual text of each category. You could use this html code for the color to ensure it matches the CAP branding that Suloni provided for us....

Graph Disappearing

Hey Geoff,

When I remove a series from the graph, the entire graph disappears. Example, Penn Bills on Defense, Banking and Civil Rights....tried removing civil rights and the graphing space disappeared.

Best,
Michelle
