In notate script, sed returns an error:

sed: 1: "1a\\tpdf = {/Users/mich ...": extra characters after \ at the end of a command

I would like to study and replicate your setup, especially the pdf2doi.

Something must be different with the regular expressions and with grep under macOs (despite bash), as I get a cryptic error when launching your pdf2doi:

-bash: ![\: event not found

Something must be wrong, despite you correctly escaped the symbol ", within the command

grep -oP "\b(10[.][0-9]{4,}(?:[.][0-9]+)*/(?:(?![\"&\'<>])\S)+)\b"

Any suggestion from you would be precious!!

In the notate script isn't it wasteful to check the doi info every time I would like to take a note on particular paper? Doesn't that also mean the script wouldn't be helpful if am not internet connected? I refactored the code in the initial part of the script to be only executed if there isn't already a .md file present.

NB:
I don't know if this is an issue or more of a suggestion.
