xargs -I instead of -J

Good post. I admit I think I did know most of those things, but it's always good to have a refresher.

I recognize that you may be referencing a different version of xargs than I've used, but for clarification
I do not have a "-J" option to xargs (Ubuntu 10.04).
I the option you've described as replace-string has always been "-I" on all systems (Linux) I've used in the past.

$ xargs --version
