qtalarm's Issues

User interface problem: things don't quite fit

Hi!

I just tried QTalarm and noticed some problems:

qtalarm1
qtalarm2

Are you setting some sizes manually instead of letting the widgets/layouts decide how big they need to be?

Also, clicking on the system tray icon brings up QTalarm's window, but clicking again doesn't make it go away.

This is in Arch Linux, with Plasma.

One-time alarm

If I want to set a one-time alarm after several minutes, I need to see which day it is today, select that weekday, then calculate the time, type three numbers or two. After all of this, I need to delete it.
What about just have two more input fields “one-time” and “from now”?

No sound for qtalarm

Hi there,

Following your instructions, I compiled the files and was able to ran qtalarm. However, when I tested it. There was no sound. When the preset time reaches, there was a pop-up window but without sound. Any idea?

Thanks.

Jeff

Please provide a LICENSE file

I've been trying to work out what license QTalarm is under.
The Licensing section of README.md states that the project is licensed under "GPLv3".

But I can't see a LICENSE file in the repository.

All the source and header files contains no license information at all.

I suspect that QTalarm is completely licensed under the GPL-3.0-only (not later) license, but I think this needs to be made completely clear.

Thanks.

Refactor Codebase

I wrote this application 10 years ago. At that point I had about 3 months of professional software development experience. Over time the application has lots of inconsistencies, and is in my opinion poorly designed. Clean up the code, refactor and test the hell out of it.

Hide on calling command, or toggle option

Currently I have qtalarm set to open on click of my waybar clock

I'd like to make clicking it while it's open also make it hide, would a toggle flag be reasonable to implement?

Alarm takes 15-30 seconds after given time

I built the app on Kubuntu-22 and it is extremely buggy when it comes to setting the alarm.

Sometimes it functions right away but most of the time it takes 15-30 seconds after said time. Sometimes it never sounds the alarm.

I was planning on using it as my daily alarm but it's not reliable at this moment.

I really don't want to install K-Alarm because it installs bloatware I never use. Please fix it and submit to the KDE Project as a standalone alternative for K-Alarm

New build fails to run on Debian

I was rebuilding this for Debian 11 (MX 21). The build was successful, but the program will not open a window, and hangs immediately. Kernel 5.18.0, Qt 5.15.2. Can't see any log files, so sorry can't offer any insight.

Very stubborn tray icon not following theme

### Image of problematic behavior

Specifications:

Hardcode-Tray version : v4.3 git
Distribution : openSUSE tumbleweed KDE
Gtk version : 3.0
RSVG-convert
Sni-qt version: Patched sni-qt Community 0.2.8.git.1496001340....
Application name : QTalarm
Application version : 2.1.0

Hello, as this app uses a binary QRC icon set, it is not easily changed to a monotone white or dark as instructed by Hardcode-Tray script and patched SNI-QT, or being changed manually, either in my icon directories before, during, or after compiling.

[](trayIcon->setIcon(QIcon(":/new/icons/Clock.png"));)

[](trayIcon->setIcon(QIcon::fromTheme("qtalarm-tray", QIcon(":/new/icons/Clock.png")));

If possible, please add an option to to use the tray icon from theme, as well as fallback. Am glad for this app and have a difficult time waking up without it 😧

Regards,
