Overview

home-automation is a simple attempt to utilise a Raspberry Pi for various home automation tasks including:

  • TV control using LIRC
  • Home stats (temperature & power usage)
  • Socket / light switch control

Details

The project uses a Raspberry Pi to handle all requests. It's running Apache 2 and through a few scripts allows a user to control various aspects of their house.

There is also an accompanying Android app optimised for a Nexus 7.

Automation Hardware Used

The total cost is around £60 for the Pi, IR Toy and TellStick.

Equipment Used

  • RF compatible remote sockets
  • Sony RM-ED035 TV
  • Nexus 7 (or any Android device)
