It would be great if previously used shaders were cached rather than loaded from disk each time, so that switching between shaders is smoother - also to be able to pre-load shaders from the host app to improve initial response time.

I don't know if compiled shaders are stored on the GPU or in main memory, or if there's any limit to the number that can be loaded at once?

I might try and have a go at this soon. Is there anything I should know about how to recompile this and use it with my r_e_c_u_r?
