I'm using nice big crisp images, and they are loading slowly. The solution would be to host them on an image hosting service e.g. imgur and hotlink to them. As a precaution, I should still keep images on the web server, and replace their urls with hotlinks when rendering templates, after HEADing the hosted images from the server.

Note that imgur TOS does not allow website elements to be hotlinked, but does allow images to be hotlinked in posts.

The purpose of the fade in effect was to prevent the text from showing before the fonts are ready. The effect should not be applied when the fonts are already cached.

The server should determine which links are active by sending HEAD requests and then automatically apply the .inactive class to broken links.

In small browser windows, when the .spans start stacking, the post images should fill the width of the parent element. At the moment, they are display: block but not full width.

A CSS transition for navbar gradients would go nicely with the page fade in effect. CSS3 transitions for gradients are unsuported atm, so it would have to be faked by sliding the container background up.
