There ought to be a 2D color wheel in a side panel, with controls for selecting color schemes (complementary, opposite, tetrads, etc.) A swatch image should be available for the user to save and open in their image editor. HTML color codes would also be nice.

This will involve a plane / sphere intersection and some fancy math to convert the cartesian coordinates of the geometry into the spherical coordinates of the color space.

I think the plane should always face the camera, and the scroll wheel move it up and down the camera's Z axis. A key modifier for fine control would be nice.

Need setFromCoplanarPoints() and distanceToPoint(), maybe other methods too.

Instead of redrawing every frame, use the callbacks to only update when the view or the scene changes. The trackball controls fire an event, and so should any other user input event.

The vertices of the triangles in the sphere mesh must be moved down the surface of the ideal sphere to the circular intersection with the plane. This requires powerful magic.
