macrodynamics's Issues

Thoughts: compiler-let

This is just a discussion rather than an issue, but I couldn't find a better place to comment... Sorry for the spam! Feel free to close this.

The link about the "major limitation" is dead, but I think I can imagine and relate. In my project (which embeds a DSL) I need to have a form (with-xxx ... body), which affects how some other macros in body is processed. I couldn't figure out a clean way until I see macrodynamics. It's exactly what I needed! From my understanding my use case also seems to be the canonical use case for macrodynamics. I happily refactored my project to use macrodynamics and it's much better.

However, later I find compiler-let also does exactly what I needed and it's quasi-standard (CLtL2, supported by most major implementations). It now look suspicious to me that macrodynamics sort of reinvented compiler-let. Of course, macrodynamics does it using pure standard CL, which is cool, but implementations come with CLtL2 already. I searched for compiler-let in this repo and find nothing. I wonder if you have looked into compiler-let and is there any important difference between this work and compiler-let?
