Wireshark vnc/html5 service for docker

Usage

Start wireshark vnc/html5 server

docker run --name wireshark --privileged -v /Users/pcap:/home/wireshark/pcap -d -p 5900:5900 -p 6080:6080 danielguerra/wireshark-vnc

& check

docker logs wireshark

After this use a vnc client to connect (dockerhost:5900) Or use wireshark in your browser http://:6080/

Everything should start automaticly.

Right click opens a menu to start wireshark or xterm.

Everything runs under user wireshark, the user has sudo rights.

Password for user wireshark = wireshark

Work-around for setting background color

It's a bit janky but the following will set the background color.

  • add hsetroot and sed to the binaries installed via "apt-get"
  • near the bottom of the docker file (just above the CMD line), add:
RUN sed -ri '6 a hsetroot -solid "#99CCFF"' /home/wireshark/noVNC/utils/launch.sh

The above will inject the hsetroot command into the launch.sh file and will set the background color to light blue.
