If you press a key, say 'a', and hold on to it, the snake will stop being responsive and will just keep moving in the same direction until it dies.

The snake starts moving as soon as the executable is run. The player then has little time to read the movement instructions before the snake dies. There should be a beginning screen that allows the user to read the movement instructions before beginning the game.

The code, the way it currently is, is re-drawing the entire board after every delay. This is unnecessary and costly. Only the objects that are changed should be re-drawn.
