Hi, I'm David (he/him/his) 👋🏼 I'm a WordPress VIP Customer Success Support Lead.

WordPress VIP, part of Automattic, are enterprise WordPress and are the official digital experience platform from the makers of WordPress.com.

I'm a WordPress plugin developer, contributor and international speaker. I'm passionate about inclusive language and statistics. I'm also a regular, but average, gamer, having played poorly since the 1980s.

I work on these in my own time and take no donations for their continuation - I write and support them because I like doing so. For this reason, changes may be slow to be made but I will always try and provide support in the WordPress.org forums as quickly as I can. Indeed, that's where all support should be directed. Please use the repo's issues log to look for outstanding issues or to add new features that you'd like to see.

Add setting for exact title matches

When a site uses simple titles (e.g. on pages - "About", "Blog", etc.) then an exact title match may not be appropriate.

So, add an option in Settings -> Readings to be able to specify whether this is on or not, and whether for posts or pages.

Maybe a drop-down with the following?

Off
Posts only
Pages only
Posts and Pages

Alternatively, look at Discussion settings and maybe just have 2 tick boxes to switch on/off posts/pages on 2 separate lines. The latter is my favourite choice.

Also, add a link to settings in plugin meta.

Investigate HTML errors

Seeing the above errors when validating the HTML from the settings screen...

reference to non-existent ID "SOLO_OPTION_EXACT_PAGES"
reference to non-existent ID "SOLO_OPTION_EXACT_POSTS"
reference to non-existent ID "SOLO_OPTION_SINGLE"

These related back to the label tag.

Error with translations

Not sure why, but translations aren't being picked up.

New options to hide featured image if already included

This is an idea of how to do it... https://odd.blog/2020/10/08/hide-featured-image-if-its-in-the-post/

What want to expand this to only hide it if the FIRST image on the page was the same, that way any social links are likely to show the same image anyway.

Add a feature pointer

Upon plugin activation, can point to where the settings can be found.

Add an uninstaller file

Need to remove the options during removal.

Display exact title matches

The idea is that if they search for an exact title match, then that is shown, even if multiple responses are found.

Test for my own site. Look for...

Add Twitter threads to your WordPress post

Make sure it matches whatever case is used.

Add screenshot of new settings

Update plugin meta in header

In main file (i.e. solo-search.php), add the new expanded meta header.
