While testing ProDOS 2.5 alpha 7 on my IIe, I've found that DaveX gets confused by the new feature of up to 8 drives per slot of ProDOS 2.5 (https://github.com/ProDOS-8). It fails somewhat gracefully in that it justs duplicates the first two partitions of my CFFA card (that has 4 partitions) instead of crashing outright. In the absence of traditional slot remapping, Davex sort of recognizes the extra partitions but not in a way that allows for individual access. It relists slot 7's partitions 3 and 4 as duplicated instances of partitions 1 and 2, albeit with the correct partition name, as if I had two slots seven (see attached screenshot)
DaveX is an awesome piece of software that lots of Apple II users rely to deal with CF card partitions, and it would be nice if it could be made to work with ProDOS8 2.5 that expands the number of possible mounted volumes to 37 drives. It would also be nice to have it updated so it works correctly past 2027 (the year in ProDOS 2.5 has been expanded from 7-bits (127 years) to 10-bits (1,024 years) to allow date support until the year 2924). ProDOS 2.5 also introduces support for lowercase file and volume names, and removes the 51 files limit on the root directory, but I didn't run into any issues with those features during my limited testing.
