When mcps is closed due to weather conditions or other emergency conditions, report it on the website.

This seems extremely difficult. MCPS does provide some info channels that can be accessed programmatically (twitter, email alert, etc), but those sources have other information mixed in and are written by humans, so they would require some natural language processing to be useful. That's infeasible for a clientside website.

I think, therefore, the only good approach to getting this information is to scrape the MCPS website. That would make the site rely on a highly unstable api, but better than nothing, I think (as long as an invalid access of the data doesn't crash the js). I'm not sure whether or not I can find the way they do their emergency announcements during this time of year though, so it may take a bit of time before this feature is testable.
