N64 homebrew tool to extract segments of binary ROM files using symbol tables.
extractseg <binary file> <symbol to extract>
, symbol table as stdin
nm game_sym.out | exctactseg game.n64 code
N64 homebrew tool to extract segments of binary files
For the game I am trying to use this for, it extracts multiple segments at once. Normally a perl script would be used, but I wanted to try this tool so i wouldn't have to depend on perl
However it seems that the tool is only capable of extracting one segment at a time, all others are ignored.
This can get annoying for texture archives as there is a lot of segments to rip for those
This isn't game breaking, but is just a suggestion
nm $(APP)|tool\extractseg $(TARGETS) code code_entry
(code_entry is ignored and is not extracted, requiring me to call extractseg again)
