Hi Paul, so I was taking this project for a spin and I realised a retain cycle and even though I haven't been able to resolve it because of time constraints, I thought it would be great to let you know about it.

How to reproduce this

Using instruments with the Allocations tool, you can record and check below at the Allocation Summary portion, you can observe the persistent and transient objects to see the changes when you move from the Chat List screen to the Chat Screen. You will notice that after popping the Chat Screen from the navigation stack when you hit the back button, the strong variable var viewModel: ChatViewModel? is retained (or it is persistent). Try it several times and you notice, it reoccurs.

What I suspect is the issue?

1. The reference between the chatViewModel & chatViewController seems inverted.
2. Also, it could be because the variable named chatViewModel created in the chatListController's didSelectRow method is deallocated after the scope ends and leaves only the strong reference with the chatViewController so basically non-existent and unable to receive messages from it's delegate.
