Add the ability to alert a channel (#announcements was recommended, that may be up for further discussion though) when users join Discord.

Kenneth talked about possibly just throwing together a lambda function for this, if they do it we can just close this out.

The jif command can display a gif preview, but the posted gif will be a "soft" 404.

For example, when searching for unsure meme, the preview shows this:

The actual gif is an Azure-cached link. When clicking Post, the bot inserts the actual URL of https://media.giphy.com/media/ykPvII5mPWuvC/giphy.gif which is not an available gif.

However, giphy is returning a 200 (not a 404), so the bot doesn't have a way of verifying if the gif is still available.

Possible solutions:

1. Use the Azure-cached URL as the actual content.
2. Attach the Azure-cached Image to the post in slack.
3. Perform some kind of validation on the link before offering it as an option (not sure how to do that, maybe the Azure API has something we can use besides HTTP Status Code checks)

This is a recurring request. Making an issue for it.

The slack integration is basically built around channels. It needs to be extended to work with threads as well. Shouldn't be too bad but isn't a simple switch.
