g729's Issues

G729 efficiency issues

The C implementation of VAD in G729 is not as efficient as the MATLAB Implementation, I think the inefficiency in C pulls the decisions of VAD to output speech as noise more frequently. When I debug in parallel between Matlab and C, the difference in outputs point towards the decision smoothing loop and Multiboundary check in the end of "vad.c"

Matlab somehow has a better output, using the same algorithms. However, Matlab uses the dB scale I suppose, and C uses unscaled components while thresholding for Voice/Noise. Would you know how to tune VAD in g729 C implementation for a better output ?!

G729b Coder application doesn't produces out bit stream at 8kbits/sec rate

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Record 5 seconds of speech data in 16bit PCM using 8KHz sampling freq.
2. Encode using binary build from coder.c application

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The size of 5 seconds speech record at 16 bit PCM with 8k sample freq. is 80000
Bytes raw data file (produced 128 Kbits/sec ) which is perfect. But the bit
stream output file generated by G729 Annex B coder application produces 59344
bytes with VAD enabled and 82000 bytes VAD disabled which is not a 8Kbits /Sec
rate.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest SVN and in Ubuntu 12.10

Please provide any additional information below.
I expect that g729 Annex B algorithm should produce the stream file at 8Kbits
rate so expected file size in bytes would be 5000 bytes file size.

The assemble optimization for ARM (with G729_ARM option) has issues

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Compile with G729_ARM option, use the codec to communicate with other phone.
2. The program will crash while decoding first packet, I found it stops at
--Word16 div_s(Word16 var1, Word16 var2), e.g, the var1 and var2 always is less
than 0. The call path is: Post_Filter() --> agc() --> goes to line "s =
L_deposit_l(div_s(gain_out,gain_in));", stop at div_s(gain_out, gain_in). As I
print the two value, found they are less than 0, it causes program exit.
3. If I compile it without G729_ARM option, it is ok, no problem.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
--> Compare difference of the compilation option, it illustrates that the
Assemble optimization for ARM has issues.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
---> I'm testing on HTC handset, it is ARM V7a.

Please provide any additional information below.

G729 Bug - undefined reference to `bad_lsf'

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. First time build of doubango v2.
2. Follow all the steps as exactly as in the Technical Guide June 2013 rev of
webrtc2sip
3../autogen.sh && ./configure --with-ssl --with-srtp --with-vpx --with-amr
--with-speex --with-speexdsp --with-gsm --with-ilbc --with-g729 --with-ffmpeg

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
autogen and configure to be completed successfully.

What is the gotten output?
checking for g729b/ld8a.h... yes
checking for Init_Decod_ld8a in -lg729b... (cached) no
configure: error: You requested G729 audio codec but not found...die

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Doubang V2. svn co'ed today morning IST. OS is centOS 6.4 64 bit

Error while loading module on asterisk

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Compile/install g729 (./autogen.sh -> ./configure -> make -> make install)
2. Copy libg729b.so.0.0.0 to asterisk module path renaming it to codec_g729b
3. Load module on asterisk-cli (module load codec_g729b)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: Load Module Success
Got:

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Using branch v8
OS: Debian weezy (Raspian) - Linux raspbx 3.6.11+ #408 PREEMPT Wed Apr 10

Please provide any additional information below.

I'm running asterisk on raspberry pi.
Does it need to be compiled with custom parameters to work with my armv6l?
