I've implemented this, but I like how it bounced up and down. Also, this allowed us to give more height to a level.

No. The bounce up and down is a problem unless you're prepared to letterbox, because the backgrounds will only be as tall as the game. Also, you guys need to get the game to run on my system because otherwise you're going to have a lot more work to do this weekend.
