Have you plan to support multiple languages in file? Important for WEB. Examples:
html file, possible mixins:

• javascript
• css

ant xml file, possible mixins:

• javascript
• ruby
• what ever jvm language

java. possible mixins:

• SQL
• HQL

Off course always should be main content type (html, xml,php, java), and ability to report embedded.

Instead of running parser inside the eclipse, it should be possible to run parsers as external process with an (JSON) API that allows to send the information required to the IDE.

This would allow for using parsers written in any language, provided they support the parser API.

This was possible 25 years ago when computers were really slow. Why should it not be possible today?

With such an API the parser would be independent of the IDE/editor.

Since we're talking about dreams, can this be extensible without requiring custom development? I don't know enough about Antlr to know if this is even possible, but one thing I've always wanted is to provide a grammar and get an editor with syntax validation and highlighting at the very least. Ideally this would be done at runtime, but if code generation is required an acceptable compromise would be to run the grammar through a build tool that produces an installable plugin.
