I'm not able to replicate this issue. I've installed and configured VichUploaderBundle on a fresh Symfony 2.1 installation and it seems working fine. Here you can find my Entity and Controller code https://gist.github.com/bbd95b5356f7d9058d7c

Maybe we can look further it. Could you share more about your application ?
