Support for multiple track songs would allow the muffling to only occur on
certain tracks such as only the guitar track.
Also it was suggested that perhaps Freetar song editor could process the
song and try to automatically split the song into multiple tracks.
"A software code "engine" that will take any normal MP3 music file and
strip out and de-layer the tracks into their instrument components. THEN,
it can replace the guitar and bass tracks with corresponding FH data...in
essence, it needs an "auto-translator" of sorts. "

When a player starts the game, it is in the 'paused' state (requiring the
player to unpause the game to begin playing). This isn't immediatley
obvious to new players, and cuases confusion.
This should be replaced with a timed 'count in' similar to the one that
appears in GH (a few seconds of scrolling with some ambient noise before
the song starts) to allow the player to get ready to play.

Support for a multiplayer mode, either using a split-screen where the
players play 2 different tracks (IE: Guitar and Bass), or a face-off mode
where the compete against each other.
It would also be interesting to see if a network multiplayer game is
possible (although network latency might be a major issue as well as music
synchronization).

When starting the Freetar Game OR Freetar Editor on some machine
configurations (detailed below) a 'Failed to enumerate devices: Failed to
set buffer size (2)' error is generated by the program (listed in the Java
console):
"[timestamp] com.jme.system.PropertiesIO <init>
INFO: PropertiesIO created
[timestamp] com.jme.system.PropertiesIO load
INFO: Read properties
Failed to enumerate devices: Failed to set buffer size (2)"
After this the program generates another error when looking for controller
"null" - and no input devices are visible to the program.
Version 0.1 of the editor appears to work normally for this machine
configuration.

Support files (debug logs, controller configurations, etc..) are stored in
whatever the 'current directory' is when the program is launched.
For instance, if the user launches from the webpage (using webstart) the
controller.ini and debuglog.xml files are created in the webbrowser's home
directory. This makes it difficult for users to find/cleanup these files.
If the user launches from a downloaded .jnlp file, then the program places
these files in the same folder as the JNLP.

New users that try to load songs in the game or edit them are frequently
confused by the multiple consecutive 'open' screens, and don't realize that
one is for the SNG and one is for the Music. The opening process should be
revamped to make it more clear what is expected of the user.

After completing a song in the game portion, the user must exit the program
and re-launch it before they can retry a song or switch to a new song. This
sucks the fun out of completing a song. Menus for restarting / switching
songs should be added.

Users should be able to assign buttons on different controllers to the
various actions. E.g. Set up a Gamepad for the track buttons, and enter or
space for pause and special.
This would have the side-effect of allowing more controllers to be used
(i.e. ones with less than the required amount of buttons, like a mice) for
the inputs. Would also make it simpler to setup multiplayer configurations
in the future.

When the user misses a note, the background music is muffled until another
note is successfully hit. In some cases, this can be a very long time and
can be annoying. For instance, if the last note before a big drum solo is
missed, then the entire drum solo is muted.
A possible solution is to provide a maximum 'muffle time' after which the
background music becomes un-muffled.

To reproduce:
1. Start a song with HO/PO'able notes
2. HO a note, and before it is finished its 'pushable time' also strum for
that note
The note will be marked as 'played', however the strum will be triggered as
an extra strum (the program does not recognize it as strumming the HO/PO'd
note). Notes that are triggered by a HO/PO should still be strummable.
