I am using the "France" French and all the abbreviations seem to be correct and with correct formatting.

I am using Switzerland French in Freya. I've just tested with "France" French it's ok, but not with Switzerland French

The abbrieviated Month name in the Switzerland French Locale must be wrong here. We don't provide these translations ourselves but rather rely on existing work in glib. From a short investigation it seems like glib does not know about Swiss French, so it should fallback to French itself. I checked in the current version and there the abbreviation is the same as the full word for some of the months like you describe above.
