Having user accounts/folders makes it easier to catalog uploads and takes the responsibility off the client to remember each upload.
Perhaps users could upload files as a guest if the configuration allows, or a user may sign in/submit an authentication token with their request via a user page.
Possibly:
GET / --> Home/Splash Page with Link to Upload Page.
GET /upload --> Upload Page
POST /upload --> Continues to Upload as Before.
