crashcoursec's Issues

Syntax error in lib build script?

I've been trying to create makefiles for compilation on linux systems, which is going well so far. I can compile the examples given in the Labs directory and run them on the target.

As I was sudying the build script buildlib.bat for the lib I may have found a little syntactical mismatch.

lib filename filename in buildlib.bat line number
BitIoLdd1.c BitIoLDD1.c 26, 35
BitIoLdd2.c BitIoLDD2.c 27, 35
BitIoLdd3.c BitIoLDD3.c 28, 35

I don't know if that is a problem on Windows systems, but on Linux it will fail due syntax error. Nevertheless I think this should be changed just for clarity.

IRC channel for the usergroup

Sometimes it's good to have a live access to someone from the same course or even a teacher/tutor.

What is your opinion on having an own IRC channel? Lets say something on freenode like ##crashc? (I already created this channel)

Pros

  • fast response times compared to forums
  • much easier communication
  • barely any maintenance

Cons

  • empty channels result in no response at all
  • no logging (only live messaging)

Place for course documentation

Where should the course documentation for the students be placed?

This should be clarified before we start with the documentation.

Possibilities from my point of view:

  • LaTeX Document
    • + Clean documentation
    • + Easy to support two languages (\ifde / \ifen)
    • + Students have a real Documentation in the end
    • - Initial Effort
    • - Distribution of pdf should not be in repo (Possibility with external build server)
  • Wiki (see CrashCourseC/wiki)
    • + Separated documentation
    • + Simple Interactivity possible
    • - No subfolders possible
  • Markdown files in subfolder Instructions (see prg2-mep/README.md)
    • + Documentation in repository
    • + Simple Interactivity possible
    • + Subfolders possible

My favourites would be either the Markdown files inside the repo or the LaTeX Document

If I have time, I make an example of the missing alternatives this evening.
